Now I know why everyone says SSFTX instead of Super Turbo

Becuase the AI on Super Turbo (US version) is a cheating cheating bastard. On level 1 it's a mother fucker, but the very same game in JPN mode is super easy. Easy on level god damn 8. Now why, why, oh fucking why did they do this? If anything, you'd think it would be harder on JPN mode, and not the other way around.

To make matters worse, when playing on an arcade there is no free play mode on the actually beatable JPN version (if you can't tell by now, my copy is Phoenixed). What a gay sitution that is.

Rant over.

Oh man, I have to get a japanese one then.

The CPU pwns me on the US one, I can't even beat the third guy ( even if I get that far :( ).

haha, great thread, echos what I have to say about it exactly

why the US version is harder i don't know, like me you thought it'd be JP too, but :conf:

maybe they realised they had some fierce players in the US , but the difficulty on it is fucking ridiculous.

my old arcade used to have X, not T, anyway so I don't mind playing X, thankfully its more fun,

Probably a bug like UMK3 where the difficulty is super high no matter what.

i just picked up this game as well and it was phoenixed and i know exactly what you guys are talking about. at first i thought i was just imagining that the US version was much harder. now i see that im not the only one who thought that, haha. on the US version i couldn't even beat the 2nd guy versus the comp.

I think the biggest issue (for me at least) is the huge amount of damage the CPU gives in relation to what a human character can inflict. Yeah it's a real pisser, but I've learned to chalk it up to meaning don't make a mistake or it's round lost.

It's not only the huge damage they do to you (which is gay), but the fact that it counters perfectly some moves you do. It's funny if you try it. Some things you press a button for, and almost as if you're contolling the computer's character, they will react with a counter move. So they are faster, stronger and know what button you press the second you do it... yeah, that's fucking fair.

You can use this to your advantage, however. Some glitches in the programming let you spam the computer with moves that it cannot deal with. When I said you press a button, the computer reacts at the exact same time? Well, with Guile's forward medium kick, you can do that to a LOT of characters, and that makes them jump toward you. You can litterally kill an enemy by doing nothing else. Everytime you do it, they jump up and get hit down. Do that about 15 times with the right spacing, and you can kill almost anyone.

The AI is both easier to defeat, and yet less predictable in JPN mode. Two features that make it far and away better.

on level 4 , JP mode, you can just hurricane kick him to death :conf:

I still get rapeth on a couple chars sometimes who just 'want to win'

but even gouki wasn't that bad, more a challenge than just flat out unfair

I was playing on my buddy's cab SSF2X and I was shy one credit of acing the game with Zangief, and then he says that the damn thing was already on level 8, so when I got my CPS2 cab I level up my SSF2X and aced it after 2 times trying.

The truth is that now that is done, there's no more challenge after that! So back to the Hyper Street Fighter 2 in the anniversary collection to get my balls back!

Same thing with SFA that damn game is so damn easy on default so I up the difficulty to 8. I find that most crapcom games need this, hell even 3rdS and SFA3 I only play on the highest difficult level possible, and by no means am I a fantastic player, I mean I can hold my own pretty good, but there's plenty of people on XboX live that give me a hard time on 3rds and Hyper.

I'm actually happy to say that I finally up the difficulty to expert on Fatal Fury Special, I honestly believe that the AI on that game is awsome! even on level 4 or MVS the battles are intense after the 2nd or 3rd guy, but in expert they are fucking intense from the get go!

CPS2 games seem easier to ace to me than SNK games, although MOTW default difficulty is actually not that hard for me, specially with Tizoc. Damn! every time I sit down on that game I ace the damn thing, I better up the difficulty on that too.

IMO though CPS2 games, and more specifically Street Fighter games; are really not meant to be played alone. I play them a little bit by myself but certainly not for the challenge, only to practice timing, execution and junk like that. The computer is still the computer and will never substitute a live "thinking" opponent.

You gotta get people over to play those money matches on street fighter; gets the competitive spirit burning as well as the dollar bills.

Level 8 with zangief? lol. sick man

I play alone against the cpu usually because i get very little versus play, but thats ok because everyone was an antisocial 1p playing asshole in the arcades I used to play in anyway - so its exactly the same :p

I feel the same way when I'm playing alone, however the human oponent can be predictable at times, the CPU doesn't do much for repetitive patterns, the AI tends to counter your attacks and doesn't read patterns very well, however if you trurle a bit you'll see the CPU act confused, but I hate turtling so I'm allways on the go.

Zangief is the man, my second fiercest character in SSF2TorX is DJ, he's the man! Although he's a charger you shouldn't play him like a charge character, 'cause he's made to be an aggressive machine, the key to victory with DJ are on his crossups with Mkick.;)

I hear you man, back in the day playing SF2 was a pian in the ass, 'cause you will wait forever to get some asshole that knows pretty much everything there's to know about the damn game, and slap your ass silly making you regret you ever waited that long, this was one of the original reasons why I like SNK so much more, those cabs were never that populated and I had a good time with friends that were on my same noobish level.
