MIDRANGE worth the purchase? Looking for top of the line quality for midrange bucks.
Any help would be appreciated...

Fuji Finepix 2600zoom Midrange Camera
2.1 megapixel. Pics look great. Takes cheap mem. 6x _optical_ zoom. I took most of the pix on my gallery with it. Can probably be had even cheaper than i got it for last year :)

The zoom isn't digital, so it isn't zooming a jpg in memory.. Most cheap cams have digital 2x 3x zoom.. that pixellates like hell. I can higly recommend it :)

Can also make short mpg movies without sound :)

Hey,

Check out this site:

Me, I really dig my Canon PowerShot Digital Elph S230. It was $385 shipped... 3.2megapixel and tiny! Fits in my pocket with ease. That's the camera that I use when I take snaps of my conversions, ebay auctions and much much more.

Scanner wise I recommend a microtek scanner maybe a 4900? great resultion 4800 x 2400 abd 48 bit color! And personally I like UI like scanmker where I have more control over my scans.

I bought a Canon S200 2 megapixels, the other day, and i say i am very impressed. It has 2x optical zoom and 5x digital, but its best to leave the digital off.

not too shabby if ya ask me, and for $430 canadian too. so good deal.... and its frickin tiny!!! the thing is and its with all digital cams. if you move at all it comes out blurry. but i highly recomend this camera for the price

By the way YGPM

scanner: microtek scanmaker 5900. It's got like 39,000 by 43,000 for the max setting. I usually scan at 4800 dpi at least!

I have owned the Canon Powershot G1 and G2 as well as the D60. The G1/G2s are fantastic cameras and I have recommended them to friends and family. I have had 6 people buy the G2 on that recommendation and all of them are very happy. Both the G1 and G2 can be found on eBay for what I would consider to be moderate pricing.

Hope that helps.

(had my model numbers off by 1)

The top brand names in every review and comparison seem to be Canon, Olympus, Nikon or Sony, in that order.

I picked up a Canon Powershot G2 last year, not a "midrange" camera, more like high range. It takes incredible photos, and is loaded with high end features.

You might want to take a look at some other Canon models.

I guess the G2 is higher than midrange, but it's certainly not "high end" You can pick one up on eBay for $800 - $900 or so. Take a look at the G1. They are closer to the $400 - $500 range.

I also own this camera and it comes highly recommended from me as well, I used it when I was asking people to confirm my RotD was a bootleg recently.
