I haven't been this excited about a new game in my arcade in I don't know how long.

3rd strike and soul calibur 2 didn't even have me this excited..

The namco guns are SICK. The solenoid "blow-back" is aces on these things.

so awesome.

I have this:

only I need a 29" tube for it.
Also only have the point blank 1 boardset, and my namco guns have seen better days (faded and beaten up)
If anyone hears of the boardset or guns for sale let me know :)

Do you have a pic of how you ran the cables? I've been thinking about picking up a gun game or 2 for my Egret 2 cab, but there's no real way to run it without keeping the access panel off.

I'll grab a pic after I clean it up a bit. While Point Blank 2 runs on a Jamma PCB (system 11), it comes with a non-jamma I/O that plugs into the jamma harness and the expansion connector (normally used for kick harness on tekken).

That being said, it was a TOTAL bitch to wire up. The dedicated cabinet PCB schematics don't match the revision of the PCB that I have, so I had to trace everything out with my multimeter. I had to go so far as to disassemble the guns to figure out which pins carried the 24v line for the solenoids. I ended up adding a jamma harness for as much as I could. The rest of it basically plugs into the interface PCB.

Pete- Happ controls still sells the namco gun 1/2's, however each shell is going to run me about $90 + shipping. I'll get them eventually, but not quite yet.

bwodie- Do you have that exact cab, or is yours a conversion? I love the dedicated Point Blanks. Mine came in a Mortal Kombat conversion, so I had no hard feelings ripping the guts out.

Namco in the UK (Brent sales) is also quite high priced, generally Namco spares are higher than Sega.

More expensive and inferior quality from what I hear.

I might have found a lead on some new plastics for $45 per gun... still pretty steep IMO for some plastic...

I have that exact Jap cab
is missing screen, and the pink and blue gun holsters, otherwise art is pretty much 100% intact
I got lucky and got the stripped cab for 50 kangaroo dollars (was nothing but the cab, sourced the board set and guns seperatly)

Right now, everything is running outside of my astro. I'm in the process of fabricating a box to put everything in, and to mount the gun holsters and hoses.

Generally with my astro cities, I keep it so I can easily switch the games and controls. 3rd strike stays dedicated in my low rez astro, and naomi gdrom in my high rez, however I made a ton of custom connectors so switching games is literally plug and play.

I even went to far as to make Point Blank 2 Jamma (its non jamma by design) so that I can plug it in just like any other game.

That's genius bill. I never have the patience to make a bunch of custom connectors.

Maybe I need to pay someone to make em for me.

Point Blank, JVS?

Neither jamma or JVS, it uses 3 custom harnesses that combine the Gun I/O, Jamma edge and Namco auxiliary harness.

Cool stuff. His thread has resparked my interest to get Houe of the Dead running in my Egret 2...if I'm not mistaken it doesn't require sensors like HOTD2, and I already made myself a Model 2 -> JAMMA connector for my Virtua Fighter 2. Hopefully its not much more involved than that :make_fac:
