capcom will not accept repairs from people who are not actually arcade operators.

Yeah, and even if they did I'm pretty sure it would cost more than buying another board...that you can find cheap on ebay...

Either you learn how to change the battery yourself or you better leave CPS2 alone...

There are repair faqs out there, I would attempt to do it yourself. Capcom charges people $80+ to fix the board (and shipping to and from) and as said, will only do it for Arcade operators and industry folk :( I would attempt to repair it via the steps on the internet, if it doesn't work, buying a new board is the cheaper option.

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=234&item=1920913168" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=234&item=1920913168</a>

I bought a dungeons and dragons CPS2 board from a guy on ebay
It cost me 100USD on ebay+ 15usd for shipping +24usd for customs...
i tested it,..SOLID GREEN SCREEN.

My friend Simon, told me with bleu escreen , it was the suicide battery.
maybe it was the b board?
NOPE

FUCK!
when you have a green or blue SOLID screen, spc2 a board is dead.

NO Faq, faq are for cps1 suicide battery, to change batteries, etc etc.

Gots to use the ROMZZZZZZZ! Now is a good time to invest in an EPROM programmer. CPS system is lame, sorry, I was into it for a few years then sold them all off. To much of a hassle and worry. Your board can be repaired. You will need to reburn your roms and change the battery, a bit of a job but it can be done. Check the web, this is not CPS only stuff.

According to those sites, you cannot repair a dead board (at least no one has posted public instructions yet). If it's already dead, you have to send it to Capcom to be fixed.

Waku7 why not send the board back to the seller ? It's stated TESTED WORKING:

"This board has been tested and works 100%"

Definatelly I'd love to see a site with instructions on how to revive CPS2 boards. In any case, if it involves burning again all the roms on EEPROMS, I'm afraid it would become quite expensive (not to mention I think you would need to remove the roms on the board, and that ain't easy).
I still think it would be cheaper to get another board, but then it could die too after some time. Vicious circle.
In this case I would contact the seller. Maybe he tested it 5 years ago... . Or the battery died during the trip? :o

Because they would reply: "it was working when we shipped it: it will have died during shipping"

and you know what...it may well be the truth!

Then "threaten" with negative feedback. If I pais $120+ for something, the motherfucker better work when it shows up. Fucking GW Trading sent me a bad $60 Contra board, then tried to tell me it was my fault for CLEANING the system with Electronics cleaner. Considering I only cleaned the JAMMA connector, it shouldn't have been a problem.

Don't deal with GW Trading. The operator is a cunt.

Sad really, sad... Capcom could have done something else to stop the bootlegging... and in the end it was still hacked. All that remains now is the real boards that are a pain to collect thanks to their short life span... And, all the romzerz have their copies that will last forever... well, what can you do,

Well, did you ever see a CPS2 bootleg ? <img src="graemlins/spock.gif" border="0" alt="[Spock]" />

Unfortunately most of the hack jobs are done for emulators, not for real games. Just like modchips are designed to play copies, not imports...

Fucking people...

Replacing the ROMs would be an easy task, only program code is crypted and it's already on EPROMs most of the time...

Here are some CPS2 faqs.

1) Be sure it is capcom Suicide and not something else causing the problem first. A blueish green screen normally donates suicide but a game not correctly attached to the 'a' board or faulty z80 sound roms (the ones in socket 1 and 2) can also give the same simptons. The only way to be really sure is to open the board and put a volt meter on the battery and see what its pumping out.

2) Battery swapping only prelongs the life of a board, it does not fix boards that are already dead.

3) If a board is dead there is currently no way to repair it unless you send it back to Capcom. This normally needs to be done through a arcade distributer who will then send it to Capcom. There are accasions where Capcom will repair direct but I think this more applies to games still under warrenty. In most cases its cheaper to buy the game again rather than returning to be fixed once you take shipping and thins into account.

If you need d&d again then I may beable to help as I will soon be selling the following in one go on ebay...

CPS2 orange 'a' board (only accepts Orange 'b' boards)
19XX orange 'b' board (needs monitor in vertical position)
Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom orange 'b' board
Marvel Super Heroes orange 'b' board
2 clips to hold a+b boards together
Extra button connector for use with Marvel Super Heroes

If your intrested please private message me or you could wait and bid on it once its on ebay.

TU SORS DE MON TOPIC!!!
:)

For the moment i wait the response from the seller.
After i will see.

It is sad, because most of cps1 and cps2 games are really good, but it is really a bad stuff for all the problems you can have with it.
you forget to change the battery after 4 years?
100USD in the trash..
nope 99.9 usd, because you have 16 bits eproms...
