I'm thinking about selling my small AES collection and start buying MVS stuff. I don't have enough room in my flat to buy a cabinet, so I would like to get some of this MVS systems you can plug directly to the TV but I don't know much about Sigma, Superguns and all that stuff. Please give me some info about them and sellers (Euro preferred). If you can add some links it would be great.
Thanks. :)

Personally I recommend getting yourself a two slot (for the on-board memory slot and headphone jacks) and keeping any Neo controllers you have to plug straight into the board. Then all you need do is hookup the power, video and audio; no need to bother with an expensive supergun with 'arcade feel' controls. You might be able to find yourself a jamma test rig on ebay that'll do just these three things for you pretty cheap...

I've seen the Shadow4 system Brandi, but the price may be too much for me (I wanted to move to MVS in order to SAVE money  ). A "Shadow2" would be enough for me and much cheaper! Does anybody know the final price of the Shadow4?
If I buy a 2 stots MVS board what else would I need? What is a jamma test rig?
What do you think about this system? It looks like a home-made "Shadow2" system:

What is a Sigma AV 7000? A kind of Supergun?

The Phantom Converter is other possibility, but for that price (about 300USD) I prefer a MVS.

I've got mine set up with an MAS System Super Nova. Works great. No complaints. It cost $300 +$190 for a 4slot from MD Game Sales. I paid a little more than going the AES route, but since I saved ass lodes of cash on the games, I think it's a pretty damn good deal.

You might want to call MAS (or GW Trading) and see if they will sell just their super guns, without controllers (the controllers are a more expensive part for their Super Guns) and keep your Neo controllers (especially if they are the sticks and not the pad).

I use the MVS@Home system, check www.vm2.co.uk then choose the 2slot for the best quality photos. These were actually taken by me, of my setup with MOTW! This really works well, and as for space and easy of use its excellent. The memory card function is pretty great too :-)

Look, if you already have an AES and want to save money (as you said), then the best choice would be the Phantom converter, because:

1) A supergun will cost you no less than 300 bucks.

2) If you get a supergun you'll also have to get a MVS motherboard and they start at $200 (a 1-slot model)

3) A Candy is a viable hypothesis only if you live in the US (and you don't), as shipping to Spain would be no less than $300 (probably much more).

If you were able to build your own supergun, then it would be different as you'd only spend around $100-150 for the parts (and since you're in Europe you won't need an expensive RGB->NTSC converter)...Actually you could save quite a lot of cash if you'd just get a cheap AT PSU ($20) and a MVS motherboard with joy ports: all you have to do is a bit of soldering and you're done but it requires some tech skills...

Now draw your own conclusions...

Since you are in spain, you have an easy setup.. You probably have scart on your tv set!

So all you would need is :

- Old Style 1 slot with joy ports (around $60)
- 2 Slot (joy ports & memcard) ($75-100)
- Some soldering skill ($0)
- Scart cable (buy new:$10 or use a leftover ($0))
- PC AT Powersupply ($15 or less)
- Scart Pinout
- Jamma (1 slot mono) pinout
- Or Neo Multislot (stereo & select button) pinout
- Some wire for the pc power supply to the jamma
- Female 28 pin edge connector

As you can see, it's 'connect the dots'. You hook up R/G/B and SYNC from the pinout to the Scart R/G/B and SYNC. You hook up the power supply to the jamma's power points (skip the -5, it's not on a pc psu.) Also hook up +5 over a 100 ohm resistor to the blank select signal on the scart. Remember to check the soldering!

That is all. you turn on the TV, select the scart video input as 'channel' and then turn on the MVS by turning on the pc power supply.

You can plug the AES sticks into the MVS joypad ports. For a simple 1 slot this should cost you around $125 max with all parts included. Or around 130 euro.. much cheaper than AES.

If you think it's difficult, look at the diagrams and buy the jamma female connector.. it's really easy.

Go with Asure.

Bought my 1 slot from ebay for 50 UK pounds.

Made my supergun for around 50 too... It's got gold plated scart plug with rgb and stereo... :D

There;s nothing hard at all in making it

Saludos!

There's a few problems I've seen in these posts:

Superguns start at $200, that's what I sell mine for (home made)

1 Slots go for about $100 usually.

PC power supplies have -5v.

that's all!
