Ok, I'm working on building my own supergun, and I noticed that the 25 pin d-sub connectors (I'mn using instead of the usual 15 pin (don't ask) are sized for 20 gauge wire. Will 20 guage wire work out alright? I'm basically using this wire for everything from the speakers to the video to the power, so I need to know if this will work in the end. Also I need to know if a magnet (as found in the 4 inch, 8 ohm speaker I'm using) will erase EProms, as I have the universe bios installed and I hear some original carts include EProms. Thanks for any info.

eproms are erased by strong UV light. magnets have no influence.
except for the power lines, nearly any wire diameter will work.

Ok that sounds good then. What guage wire would be needed for the power connections then? I need to run at least the ground wire to the controllers and I'm going to need to extend the wires coming out of the PSU. Thanks for the help.

18AWG.

For the controller you can use the ground pins at the end of the jamma connector (27, 28) and those need not be 18AWG...20-22 will be just fine.

I used 22AWG wire for mine and it worked out fine. Only thing I can think of is that the speaker, if the magnet is big enough, could cause interferance on some of the video lines if they were close enough together. So it kinda depends on the proximity of the speaker magnet and the video wires. You'll probably be just fine though.

Anyway, good luck with the project, if you use 20AWG it should be just fine, I doubt you're pulling any current that would fry that wire.

Peace
