Work with me here. I'm trying to get a better understanding of what additional moderation would be able to do:

So we get that sudden change between posts 15 and 16. What now? Ban him and cut off contact here (and possibly piss him off more so that, if there was even a chance that he'd reverse himself, he won't anymore)? [he refunded all]
Moving later in the thread, despite his ridiculous story, there are people willing to deal with him. Do you block that as well? Or do you simply say
caveat emptor?
On a general scale:
Are you willing to deny people an opportunity to use the market? Will the cooling effect be worth it?
Exactly how are people supposed to prove themselves with transactions before you allow them to do larger deals?
What will prevent them from working that system? We already have numerous people who have scammed after significant, good records.
How controlled of an economy are you willing to tolerate? Too much and you will shut it down without trying to. Barriers to market entry will make it stagnate.
My own two cents (but I'm not 100% stuck to this, so please convince me otherwise)
Personally, I'm in favor of listing the personal information of anyone who scams a person on this website. They've forfeited any privacy when they scammed someone. Let their name be google-able with a thread about how much of a scamming idiot they really are (especially in job background searches).
Otherwise I need to be convinced there's a lot that can be done to
prevent things. I'm not sure what can be done to keep scamming from happening other than vigilence on the part of buyers and sellers.
I don't enjoy the market forum because it's a
market and from day one I knew there was going to be nonsense because money makes people stupid --too many people. That's why I avoid them.
