How to run system 256 in a Naomi cab?

Okay, I've got a cab set up to run Naomi games... but I was hoping to put a system 256 in there instead. It has no real JAMMA or anything, but I was wondering how I could power this system on and so on anyhow? What to do, what to do? I know I can use the jamma harness thing with system 256.... for jamma.... do I have a way of plugging the things directly into the sysetm instead, by any chance? VGA and sound are good (there's an RCA part in the machine, and VGA is a no brainer. But what about the rest? Any idea?

unplug the VGA, USB, Sound andp ower from the naomi and plug them into the System 246.

Edit so it's more helpful: Any system256 kit should come with an adapter for JVS power.

That's that? It's that easy? System 256 (not 46) has all the same plug ins?

Yup. Just checked the manuals for tekken4 and tekken 5.

Nope, can't do it. I don't have a power cable that plugs into system 246. It's something different.

It's weird, all of the 246/256 manuals state that there's an adapter for JVS power harnesses that should've been included w/ kit. =/

Ah, you're assuming my good man, that I bought the kit new? I didn't. Damn. I wonder how hard it would be to get such a thing? Not very, I'm sure.

If your naomi cab is using a capcom I/O, you can make it plug-and-play with the correct power harness. Evertyhing else directly hooks up (USB plug takes the place of the namco input connector). I have mine hooked up that way, if I remember I'll snap a pic of the harness. I made my by hand, but they are available on yahoo jp.

You ever work out that PC driver for JVS I/O USB boards?

What the hell do you call that adapter? I've been searching the internet to buy one, but can't figure out what the hell it's called. Anyone have one for sale?

No. I have no luck when I know not what I'm looking for. I've just about given up. Someone, can anyone find one of these damn things for sale on the net? I can't seem to find one.

in fact you just need the naomi power connector to hook up in your capcom converter and a connector to hook up on your 256 mobo right ?
I'll check with my 246 power harness and see if i can do something for you ^^

It's just the cable that connects two power connections for naomi into one for system 246/256. I've got the cables coming from the pow supply. They do make this cable, I just can't find it (because I don't know what you call it).

Thanks for the help, guys.

Can I just use the cables from one (Naomi's pow supply) and take my Jamma adapter that came with this and splice them together? I mean, take the cable leading from that adapter and make it myself, or does it have to go through some stupid transformer or something? Maybe someone could get me a close up picture of one of these things?

No, that should work, but I don't know what the pin out is on the JVS harness.

If anyone could get me a picture of the adapter, I should be able to take the rest from there.

Yo Steve-

Here's the scan from Capcom Fighting Jam's Manual where it shows the harness and explains it (in jap):

http://www.big-bill.net/246/246.pdf

And here's the official harness:

I was never able to track down a Namco harness, so I made my own. It can be done by splicing the naomi power harness with the 246 power harness. Also, if you know an AMP terminal supplier, you can buy the terminals and crimp your own.

Enjoy,
Bill

Run the USB cable from your Capcom I/O (or sega I/O) to the Namco 246/256's USB port that is right up front. Your JVS I/O (capcom or sega) will intemperate the joysticks' signals.

Let me know if you need a pic of my setup. It sounds like you're on the right track however, so best luck with it.

It will work without power running to it for the joystick?

I'm not sure what you're asking here... joysticks dont' require voltage. Everything should be plug and play in your existing naomi configuration. Its a matter of switching like 4 connectors from naomi to 246.

The USB cable carries +5v at .5amp with it. So yes, the I/O *board* needs power, but it's being supplied by the USB cable.

(or should be, if it's real USB)

The I/O board draws 5v from the jamma harness, not the USB cable from the 246.
