I don't know what's up... I'm paying Metal Slug 3 using a MV-1C hooked up to a supergun.

The game will boot up fine sometimes, but it seems to like to restart at random... The screen becomes jumbled, goes blank, flickers, and the main screen comes back on when I am playing.

I don't know if it is the contacts or what... I took out the game, put it back in, blah blah, made sure the harness was alright... And sometimes when I turn it on again, it will give me nothing. The screen is just a jumbled, flickering mess and the game never kicks in.

What can I do? Thank you very much.

[ESP Ra. De. works perfectly fine, so it is not the supergu

Your other mvs games work fine with your supergun?

Could it be your slug 3 cart is dirty?

Could it be a bootleg? I haven't ever heard anyone talk about running across an MS3 boot though.

I don't have any other MVS carts, unfortunately.

I think I might just have to clean the contacts better... But what do you recommend using?

Oh yea, I'm positive the cart is legit.

A low 5 volt supply can cause those sorts of problems also, check it at the board edge connector.

Cart cleaning procedure here <a href="http://www.hardmvs.com/html/cleaning.htm" target="_blank">http://www.hardmvs.com/html/cleaning.htm</a>

It would be worth cleaning the board slot as well.

Thanks for the link, tody.

But now that I am playing ESP Ra. De. again, this game has decided to reset itself a few times...

I guess it must be the supergun....

.gulp.

Damn.

Is it a home made supergun or a pre made one like a MAS Supernova? If it is premade then maybe you can get some tech help from the people who made it...

Yea, it is homemade... I e-mailed the guy...

I'm kinda thinking it might be the actual harness. Is there anyway to get in there and safely clean the JAMMA harness?

Thanks, guys.

Have you checked the voltages like ttooddddyy suggested? From what i have read on this forum a low or incorrect voltage is usually the culprit behind most problems.

Sounds like a voltage issue all the way.

look at the Jamma plug pinouts on <a href="http://www.hardmvs.com" target="_blank">www.hardmvs.com</a> and measure the voltage on the edge connector and see where you are.

As far as cleaning any contacts are concerned got to an electronics store and get some aerasol contact cleaner and give them a few squirts and let it eat the crap off of them , wait till it drys before playing of course.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, good sirs...

But it seems like the supergun wanted to give me some friendly trouble my first day having it...

Both ESP Ra. De. and MS3 have stopped resetting, it seems.

Thanks again!

I'd be interested in seeing some pictures of your supergun - especially if its a home made one. Its always interesting to see the home made stuff.

Have the voltage checked! It really sounds like a voltage problem.

Sure thing! I'm going to post a little write-up later...

Once again, thank you all. If I have any other problems, I'll know where to ask!

Wow that sure is a unique looking super gun. I really like that clear part on top. The four controller ports are cool idea too. Its always great to see what kinda stuff people will use to house a supergun.

You need to submit pictures of that baby to the Supergun Repository at <a href="http://www.sgrepository.com" target="_blank">http://www.sgrepository.com</a>

Pretty slick looking SuperGun.

Looks like it would be easy to get into and work on if needed.

*cough* Yes you should submit pictures to the <a href="http://www.sgrepository.com" target="_blank">SuperGun Repository</a>. Or just give me permission and I can add the photos and descriptions from that thread at TNL to the 'Gallery over at SGR.

:D
