I like the red conversion. Did you paint the joystick console or did you replaced the whole thing?

Love the gold cab style, hate the "woody".

That's an overlay from a big red that was cut down to fit. My other "goldie" is all black and getting the same paint scheme as soon as the finished one is gone. It will have a solid red CP and front w/ black sides. I love the style of the goldies but hate the wood grain finish. I'm actually going to make 3 more of these cabs from scratch over the spring. My friends love the cab shape so much that I've got to go into production.

I can't stress how much I despise the wood grain look.

I just want to say, good effort on the conversion, you did what you had to bring it back.

I just can't help, but feel some disdain in this conversion, you could off gotten the Wood grain laminate and properly restore it to it's past glory.

Those who don't like the wood look shouldn't have goldies, this is the classiest cab in the MVS lineup.

I think that the reason I don't like the old woody style is because every one I've seen was always beat up. I do like the speaker placement and the smaller screen on the goldie.

The cab was procured for someone else as a present for their children. Money was an issue. The cab needed new sticks and buttons, had extensive wood damage on all corners, and needed a new power supply wired in. When I priced out good quality replacement wood grain vinyl I found it on average of 100$ a sheet. Paint is cheaper. Personally, this is my favorite cab style but I hate the wood grain look.

My goldie was on a navy ship and had been painted black long ago to cover up damage where someone trierd to kick in the coin door. I just painted the front all red. I'll post some pics when the new sticks come in.

I'm anti-woodie cab, but I can't help but to love those Neo Golds.

I can't afford anything but woodies. They are a dime a dozen around here. Candies cost out the butt when you can find someone willing to part with one.

i picked up a gold cab at a garage sale a couple of months ago for $100. it was in decent shape with a 2-slot board in it. i'm trying to restore it now and some of the pics in here were real helpful. thanks for that d00ds. one thing i am missing is the backlit marquee piece inbetween the speakers. mine has a custom black grille installed and i'd prefer to have the original piece back. if anyone has that item for sale i'd sure appreciate a PM. haven't been able to find one as of yet.

I think your best bet is to make one yourself, unfortunately I've never seen one of those for sale. If it was up to me, I would make my own artwork for it and I wouldn't put MM slots, I would just makeit with the artwork of the generic MVS MM like the one in my pics, I think that looks ace.

Perhaps I can help you with that if you can take some pics of your situation, I mean do you still have the EL panels behind it, and are they funtional? I mean there's a 100 ways you can do this, so let me know if you're interested.

hey there electricgrave. thanks for the offer of help on this. any suggestions or advice you have would be more than welcome. yes, the EL panels are there as well as an inverter board (well i'm guessing it's an inverter board). no wiring harness though so i can't do a functional test. the panels and board look brand new though so i am optimistic it will work.

is this the inverter board?

here's a shot of the outside with that custom black grille. you can see the EL panels through it. it doesn't look bad, but the original marquee piece would be better. the black grille is secured by two tamper proof torx screws. just went out and bought a set of the TP Torx bits at the hardware store this afternoon.

I'd just cut down a black piece of posterboard and pop it in between the El and the grille.

The mm holder can be a pain in the butt if you switch out games alot. They tend to fall into the cab often when you flip the cp forward.
