You will need -5 volts for the sound op amps on a H64, a dedicated mvs cab will not have -5 wired to the edge connect.
The psu may support -5, if so it would be a simple hook up to the edge connector.

If it is the original PSU, it will:

I just got my Hyper the other day.
The Japanese Hypers don't use the -5V, at least the later revisions don't use it.

I hooked mine up in a Neo candy cab and didn't have to do a thing for it to work.
You will want to wire a switch up from pin 1 and 15 to get into the test screen on the Hyper boards.

That is correct. I saw that english manual from a thread I had before concerning hooking up the -5V for my H64. A member named Apus informed me later in another thread that his Japanese board didn't require the -5.
When I got my Japanese board the other day it also doesn't need the -5. There isn't even a contact where the -5V is placed on the edge connector of the board.
So it depends on what H64 board revision.
I just got my board new from Vektorlogic, I don't know how many revisions there are, or which ones if any, of the Japanese boards need the -5V.
