wanted digital SLR camera

Like title says, I am wanting to buy a newer model slr, for my wife for xmas, must be complete, extremely nice, ;;;

OR if anyone has suggestions to another digital camera that takes kick as photos, let me know,,

the wife loves taking pictures, she uses a 35mm nikkon, but i am wanting here to try digital.
