Quick simple question:-

I've heard about people putting Atomiswaves in MVS cabinets and using the game select button as the 5th action button. ...but is it possible to use the start buttons instead? If not are there any games worth having that use 4 or less buttons?

thanks!

Game play would be very awkward on the 5th button if you did that.
4 button games - MS6 the only reason to get an AW :loco:

In a multigame MVS cab, the 'game select' button is wired to 1P button 5. There is nothing wired to 2P button 5.

Also, the JAMMA connector output is not Stereo on the Atomiswave like multislot MVS boards, according to my manual stereo only comes off the 10 pin harness nearby the VGA connector.

JAMMA: Pin 10, speaker+, pin "L", speaker -
MVS: Pin 10, Right Speaker+, Pin "L", Left Speaker+

So you'll need to compensate for that.

And I like Dolphin Blue (3 button)

Get a jamma fingerboard and edge and rewire it for the atomiswave.

Dolphin Blue and Demolish Fist are both playable w/o five buttons. Dolphin Blue is a pretty good game. Demolish Fist ... :oh_no:
