Sega Model 1, 2 and 3 all use 24.80khz (Medium Resolution), Model 3 has a VGA style connector, but it is not VGA! it outputs at VGA voltage levels of 0.7ppv.

To my knowledge there is no way of converting these to low res (I heard some people saying that you can convert Medium Res games by changing the crystal, however the picture would be crap!)

Best way is to get a MultiSync monitor.

So does that mean that when you connect an RGB SCART cable to the model 1 Genesis, you get medium resolution? Also, do you know where I can get a SCART compatable TV? Which brand would you recomend?

He's talking about Arcade boards.......
the Genesis only outputs standard (normal resolution) 15.75 RGB signals.

It's not getting it, it's sneaking it into this country that's tough ;)

Good luck (and if you know a solid way, lemme know, I already got one :D )

Hi~
So is it possible to connect the Sega models board to XRGB upscan and use on a MultiSync monitor? The boards can be modified for jamma standards, while the XRGB upscan can upscan to 31
khz.
Anybody try it before?
I trying to get a Model 2 virtua striker 99 to play with my sigma.
Is there other ways?

I can't help you a whole lot but it doesn't make sense that you need to upscan to 31khz when the game already can do that with high-res arcade monitors. You would need something to downscan it to work with a TV if you ask me. Again, I'm just using what little knowledge I have and combining it with common sense. It just doesn't make sense to use an upscan convertor on something that already displays at a very high scan rate.

Virtua Striker 99 is Model 3 not Model 2, also an Upscan convertor won't work, because it would have to be 24.80khz, if you want to play Sega Model 1/2 or 3 boardsets you'll need a Multisync monitor that supports EGA (24.80khz).

Well I can confirm that this Jamma EGA/VGA to VGA adapter works on my Sega Model 3 Arcade - Star Wars Trilogy Arcade.

I plugged in a standard VGA cable from the Model 3 board to the adapter, and then to my old VGA LCD monitor, it worked perfectly!!

I am currently in the process of connecting a Model 1 Genny RGB cable to my Neo Geo AES. Will I encounter any issues?
