My recently aquired 6 slot MVS is down 1 slot. The system doesn't recognize any game placed into the 3rd slot and it does not show up under the Soft Dips section either (it only shows slots 1,2,4,5 & 6.) The plastic cartridge slot on the board even appears to be a little melted on one side. My question is can this be replaced or is my 6 slot to forever remain a 5 slot? Thanks ahead of time!

If it's the cartridge slot itself that can be replaced... The only problem is that the parts aren't available new and would have to be taken off of a parts board.
If that doesn't fix it then it's time to start troubleshooting chips and board traces with a logic probe to find the problem. I can do that for you but I'm not taking on any new repairs until after next week.
