MVS 6 Slot - Super Quiet Sound. HELP!

I have a newly aquired original Neo Geo MVS 6 Slot and I have an issue the sound. When I first turn on the system, I hear almost nothing and then it slowly gets louder, but never any louder than what appears to be the lowest volume setting on any other MVS cab that I have used. I swapped out the speakers, but I don't think they were blown to begin with. The volume switch is all the way up and it's still really quiet, even after "warming up". However, the headphone jacks work perfectly fine and the volume switch on the board for those works perfect as well. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks in advance!

Do a search, and you'll find the caps need to be replaced. SUPER common problem. Seriously, search and you'll see a good 20 threads on the subject.

Dang, that was my first posted question ever and I got a reply in about 5 seconds! Thanks! I did the search and found the threads you were talking about. I am extremely new to this, so this may be a dumb question, but almost all the threads talk about replacing the caps on a 4 slot. Are they the same on a 6 Slot and where can I find a pic or schematic on this? Thanks so much for the blazing fast reply!

They are the same...

There's a pic of the board schematic somewhere on the board. If you can't find it I can email it to you tonight after work.

I'm new to the site also but have this exact same problem on a 4 slot. I've recaped monitors but would appreciate someone pointing me in the right directions as to which caps to replace on these motherboards.

thanks

You have email.

It's a sample graphic for the audio amp IC. I can't find the exact circuit diagram for the Neo offhand... it must be out on the shop PC and not on the one here in the computer room.

There are a bunch of electrolytic caps around the audio amplifier IC. You can either use an oscilloscope to find the bad one or you can just order a bunch of caps from Mouser.com or Jameco.com and shotgun them.

One of these years I'll order a bunch of caps and make real kits.
