Question about monitor problems

My monitor has stretching problems. It will overstretch the picture most of the time to about %10 past the normal sides on both sides but will occasionally display normal. Also, a hard tap to the side or on the CP will hit it back into place or adjust it a bit.

Is this the monitors problem or just a bad hookup?

Sounds like you have a cracked solder joint on the monitor.

RJ

Is this unrepairable or easy to fix? And where about would it be?

EDIT: Just to make sure, it has a good picture, Its just stretched.

What kind of cab?

If you have a monitor adjustment pot board under the CP ot arrached to one side of the cab inside..check that as a pot on that could be broken.loose,cracked.

On my 4 slot big red it's under the CP,in my two slot cabs it's attached inside the cab on the right side=if it had a bad pot a whack on the side of the cab would be hitting right where it's at.

I had this problem with my Old Tekken 3 cab.

You may be able to isolate the area where the problem lies by gently tapping around the board with the back of a (preferable iinsulated) screwdriver. Thats my prefered method of homing in on the sensitive area where the dry joint is likely to be.

It may be worth removing the pcb and inspecting for dry joints or cracks in the pcb tracks.

Also as Chris said maybe a scratchy width pot - what model monitor is it ??

I will get pictures as soon as I can but is this the only reason for this or is there some other possible problem.

I have no idea of what exact monitor it is but the Monitor guide inside said it was a Kortek 25 inch Standard Res monitor. Where would I find the exact model number if that does not help?

I have pictures of everything.

This is of the whole thing.

Does the problem lie with this board...

Also would this help as I believe this is the picture adjusters. The picture hasn't gone back to its normal for a while also.

Also just a picture in action. You can notice the 1up and Press Start 2nd Player are off the screen.

Thanks for all the help here guys.

EDIT: I fixed my picture a bit but the Horizontal Size knob wouldn't do anything. Still having the same problem.
