Sorry, but I am so excited about these machines, I can’t keep quiet about them. I got an awesome deal from an arcade operator who closed down his arcade last week.

Cab #1:

Showcase Cab with a WHOPPING 50” monitor.
-Came with Namco System 246
-Soul Calibur II game for System 246
-Soul Calibur III game for System 256 (but runs on a System 246)

Cab # 2:

Showcase Cab with a 33” monitor
-Sammy Atomiswave Board
-Atomiswave game Ranger Mission
- Atomiswave Expansion I/O
-Atomiswave gun subboard
-two Atomiswave shotguns

Cab # 3:

Showcase Cab with a 33” monitor
-Sega Naomi motherboard
-Capcom I/O
-Power Stone
-Capcom v. SNK Millenium

Also:

-Additional Sega Naomi motherboard
-Capcom I/O

Plus:

The guy also through in a fourth showcase cab with a 33” monitor for free, but this one has a bad monitor PCB. Still this one was free, so I can’t complain.

Total Investment: $1550, plus the gas for the four-hour drive I had to drive. Not bad considering the components inside the cab are worth more than that. Heck, the Atomiswave components alone go for about $900 or more, so it is like I got all four cabs for free. Plus all cabs are JAMMA, so I can put in them whatever I like.

And, yes, these babies will be in attendance for the Metro Atlanta Gaming Gathering in March 2008:

Those are some siiiiick cabs man, grats!

Quick question, You can run soul calibur 3 on your system 246? I thought that game was made only for the system 256. So can you run 256 games on the 246 mobo?

I have a 246 mobo and would love to run 256 games on it (tekken 5, soul calibur 3, etc)

I thought that you can only run a 256 game on a 256, but I was mistaken. Apparently you can run 256 games on a 246. I AM running Soul Calibur III on this right now.

Plus, the arcade operator I got my cabs from had another machine that had a 246 drive in it but was running Tekken 5 (a 256 game).

I am not sure if this applies to every 256 game, but I know it applies to Soul Calibur III and to Tekken 5.

Damn, those are impressive. Did you know the guy was going out of business and just asked him? I'm curious as to how you found out about them

I won two items from him on ebay. One was the Atomiswave system, Ranger Mission, Expansion I/O, Gun sub-board, and both shotguns. I won it for $392.

The other was a Naomi board, with Capcom I/O, Capcom v. SNK, and Power Stone. I won it for $296.

In talking with the guy, I found it he was also selling the showcase cab which the Atomiswave stuff was coming out of. He agreed to sell it to me for $150, and I jumped on it.

As I was talking to him over the phone to make arrangements to come pick it up (it was a four hour drive one way to pick the stuff up), he mentioned that they decided to close the arcade and asked me if I wanted anything else. He told me what he had, and I told him I wanted the 50 Inch'er with the System 246, and also showcase cab with the other Naomi setup. I offered him $700 for both and he took it.

Lastly, when I came to pick up the first three cabs, he showed me the fourth showcase cab (the one with the bad monitor board) and said he'd throw it in for free if I wanted it, which I did.

How the hell is that possible? I mean, running system 256 games in a 246. I've heard this before, but it makes zero sense to me. Maybe there's a detail being left out that nobody here knows about? The reason I say this is because I've got a 246 board, and I'd love to put 256 games in there... hmmm.

I hit up fannie from excellent.com and ask them how they sell SC3 kits. Apparently, they soft kits are brand new (software) but the board they sell it with is the system 246 board. The same thing for tekken 5, 5.1 and Dark Res, they sell them all with System 246 boards.

I'm like you man, i would LOOOVE to get 256 games on my 246 board. I asked fannie how much the following were, if anyone is interested:

1. SC 2 for system 246 soft = 100 USD
2. SC 3 software kit (brand new) and apparently works on 246 = 550 USD
3. Tekken 5, 5.1 software kit and apparently works on 246 = 650 USD

not sure if i wanna pay the price for SC3, but if it works, then its always an option for my 246 boards.

I keep them at work at my warehouse. I don't have room for them at home.

Yes, I did have 10 cabs before these. However, after acquiring these ones, I decided to sell off three of my others: the Golden Axe, Pleiades, and Speed Buggy cabs. I am starting to have too many now.

They are listed on ebay right now:
