Supergun questions

I've read a ton of power supply threads, but I get confused easily due to all of the numbers that are being thrown around. I've decided to make a supergun instead of consolizing the MVS board I just got (I got bit by the arcade collecting bug haha). The Ault SW300 has -12V which I know is overkill considering only some boards need the -5V but just to make sure...that amount of voltage won't hurt any boards or anything will it?

Also, has any dealt with Electronics Surplus Inc? They have some deals I want to take advantage of but I don't want to get burned.

In regards to the encoder (I'm purchasing a JROK V4.1), I see that there is an RGB pass through. Just to be clear, I can also have an RGB output, as well as component, composite and s-video outputs?

If I set up stereo audio jacks, does that mean that I can use those jacks for audio output, even if the board (such as CPS2 boards) have audio jacks?

Lastly, my MVS board has controller inputs. Since the supergun will also have controller inputs, will the games be controlled by the supergun jacks or will I have to use the jacks on the board itself?

I originally used an SW300 for my supergun, but I ran into a few boards that needed more power (Karate Blazers, Desert Assualt, and the Hyper Neo 64) but for most boards it should work. I ended up just buying a standard arcade power supply on ebay (another economical option) and wired it up to a 5-pin DIN jack so that it could plug into the same jack as the SW300. The arcade supply delivers all the wattage you could need for most boards, plus the -5v line the SW300 doesn't have, in case you need it.

It doesn't matter. The RGB output will still work while connected to the Jrok. You'll want to order a sync cleaner too from Jrok.

You'll only get mono sound from the jamma connector. For stereo you'll need to wire up the connector on the board.

So you need a SPECIFIC -5v line? The -12v line wouldn't cover it? I figured I'd get the 15A power supply from Bob Roberts, but I found a place that sells the SW300 for $9.95. That and I wanted to make a more compact supergun if possible.

What exactly does the sync cleaner do? Retain the quality of the signal as it passes through the decoder?

Why do people make mono/stereo switches then if you have to get the stereo signal from the board? I know that question sounds kind of dumb, but it's not clicking in my head.

For the -12v line you can use a 7904 power regualtor to drop it to -5v.

I'm not sure you understand voltages. If you hook up a 12v line to the 5v, it's not going to work right. At any rate, I wouldn't worry about the -5v line now, as it's not needed for most boards. I have yet to get one that needs it, despite having my supergun wired for it. You need +5v and +12.

You need it for some boards on some TV's. If you don't have it, you're leaving yourself open to the real possibility of incompatibility issues with some games at some point. It should be a requirement, and it should be built-in to the encoder.

It seems the stereo wiring is used just for MVS. It's stupid more stereo boards don't just use the MVS wiring, instead of an auxiliary output. I don't even use my supergun for Neo Geo, because I have a consolized board.
