I'm not sure where to go with this... cause it doesn't involve a "neogeo" machine - it's my cockpit atari pole position. i purchased it at a local auction for $10 (lucky i know!), and when i boot'er up, she reads "ROM 5" on the screen... i have no clue where to troubleshoot from here. I've googled & yahoo'd with no success...

any wizards out there that think they can help guide me in the right direction to get this classic working again?

Cake...

One of the ROMs on the board is bad or the socket it is in is bad.

Try unplugging and reseating the ROMs to see if it goes away. If it doesn't you'll need to program a replacement ROM.

That's a fun game. I have the stand up version in the garage that I fixed up. It had a couple of bad video RAMs.

Download the manual from KLOV. The nice thing about the older games is they expected operators to fix their own boards instead of shipping them back for replacements. It will tell you exactly which ROM is bad & where it's located.

Congrats!

There's a HUGE bit of satisfaction in taking a dead system and reviving it! :D

Sorry I didn't answer you earlier on the ROM question but I was busy overdosing on THE best freakin' turkey today at the sis-in-law's house. It was a smoked turkey from http://www.clarksoutpost.com

Oooooof... I'm stuffed...
