I got one of these 21 pin cables for the neo from video game depot. How do I tell if I got a scart or jap rgb cable? If it matters, the description was "neo geo rgb cable" so I am leaning towards japanese. Scart cables are ususally called as such, even though they are to my knowledge, just european rgb cables.

I got both original RGB(Japnanese)cable and scart cable.
From the looks , Japanese RGB cable got around 18 pin fill up while scart cable only got around 9 pins fill up.

If both look the same, you can only boot up via a scart TV to test (Japanese RGB cable will not work) or you can test via a XRGB upscan.(Scart cable will not work)

They may look the same but their video pinouts are difference.

Well, google for the pinouts for the japanese RGB cable, the rgb scart cable and the neogeo av pinout. Then just take a multimeter and check what pinout the scart part of the cable has, won't take you 5min including the google time.
