I am building my first CMVS with a MV 1-F board. I am almost done and everything works great except for a video issue. The component output has wavy slight intereference in it, it looks like composite almost, most noticable in text. The odd thing is that the S Video looks awesome though. What could cause this? I am using a JROK encoder V 4.1 with sync cleaner, it has the onboard jacks, I am having the same issue when using either the onboard ones or the ones I wired up. Everything is wired up and soldered using a Jamma Harness, no solder is on the board.

Also I have another completed CMVS with the same encoder, so I swapped them out and still had the same video issue, but the video looked fine on the completed CMVS, so I don't think it's the encoder, I also tried without the sync cleaner and same poor results.

I also tried some different component cables with no effect.

In my experience interference is almost always a grounding issue. Maybe try tying your video ground to regular ground? In any case check your power supply's grounding.

In my experience if you use a ground point for video that is close or that same as audio it can cause that interference. I usually tap my ground from opposite ends of the board.

It could be something else though. Whats the difference between the completed and one your building wiring wise?

Also dont use the speaker -, use ground for the audio.

This is unrelated to your problem, but a Neo Geo shouldn't need a sync cleaner.

The sync cleaner is a really great new thing that has caught on fast. It's something that NTSC encoders should have had all along. While it's basically a necessity for superguns, for some reason overzealous members have gotten it into their heads that they should put them in consolized MVS's too.

They are both wired about the same except on the one I am building I took the audio from the headphone connecter, I tried tying the vgnd into a reg ground with no effect.

Ya thats what I'm talking about, that headphone connector you're referring to has speaker - coming out of it, use a ground instead of the speaker -.

Speaker- is ground on that connector.

So it could be the board then since that was the only variable according to him.

I'm going to try a different board when I can pick one up at a good price. For now I'll just enjoy the S video, thanks for the help, I have one more part to add next week and then I'll post some pics.

:buttrock: Well after 95 % completion I hooked it back up to television and the component video works perfectly, the problem may have been in a device selector I was using, Noob mistake, should have checked that first.:shame:
