Okay ppl this game has been on my mind for like, the last decade. Not since before SNK began there Neo:Geo Hardware has there been an Ikari game, and while I signed the NGPC petition for a possible Ikari game I'd would personally rather see it on the MVS/AES system. If Playmore or maybe (wishfull thinking here) even Saurus did an Ikari IV game --BTW: "The Road To Hell" is just a subtitle I came up with years ago--- would anyone be committed enough to pre-order the sucker? I ask this because I'm reminded by some locals that I know who are Neo Heads, and there is a rather big division. The 1st are fighting game fans, the 2nd are fans of the system... I pesonally am in the 2nd and would like to see more innovation in differing genres beyond "fighting games" in the future from the differing development houses keeping this bad azz arcade/console alive after 13 long years. An Ikari IV game would surely be the way to go, adding onto the awesome gameplay of Shock Troopers and possibly going the extra mile. And for once maybe we'd get the Ralf and Clark (along with Leona and Heidern) instead of the Americanized Paul & Vince from the old Famicom days.

This posting is more of a "what if" and "Would you" kind of thing, as I'm simply curious as to how many ppl are fans of the Ikari games and whether or not I'm in the minority of being of the 2nd batch of Neo Heads versus the 1st. While many may say I'm blinded by nostalgia I still feel Ikari III: The Rescue (arcade) was the best, possibly part IV would combine the P.O.W. play mechanics of that game with it's orignal Kill-Everyone style. If enough interest was generated, possibly a petition could be started to strong arm Playmore or whoever to make Ikari IV.

Until then I will dream of this franchise making a comeback... or will continue looking for likeminded Neo Heads, find a Dev Kit and make something as equally cool even if it takes a couple of years to do.

I've always considered the Ikari Warriors to be a little overrated... yeah it always comes up on people's minds for nostalgia, but the first wasn't really designed that well. There are certain points in the game where if you die and lose the red grenades, you're pretty much doomed to die over and over because the invincibility period lasts a very short time. Especially with the character's slow walking speed. Victory Road wasn't much of an advancement either, and part 3... I didn't like it at all. I always thought Time Soldiers was a better game when I was a kid, and I still do...

That said, would I like to see an Ikari Warriors 4? Well, I'd rather see Shock Troopers 3rd Squad, but I'd love to see anything new for Neo-Geo come out that's NOT a fighting game or Metal Slug.

Coolness... it's good to know that the old franchise still has it's fans. And BBH, I do agree with you actually about Shock Troopers III being made over an Ikari IV, but still... I just feel it be nice to see the old series make a least one more run for the money. Heck if nothing else Playmore could do a revision on P.O.W. ???

I'm not sure I got your point...

I'm a huge fan of games that make use of rotational controls. However, SNK never managed to produce an absolute masterpiece in this genre. Ikari came close to that but Guerrilla war, Bermuda Triangle, Time Soldiers, SAR, etc. all lacked those elements that make a game a true classic. Data East games like Heavy Barrel or Midnight Resistance didn't fare better. I would have loved to see a rotary game on Neo hardware and always thought Metal Slug would have been perfect for that... but the point is that that would probably require a different bios, like Irritating Maze, and an AES version would therefore be out of question... So the introduction of the Neo put an end to that kind of games and hoping a new one is going to be made now is sheer nonsense...

If on the other hand all you ever wanted was a Commando/Mercs/Shock Troopers clone named "Ikari whatever", then my answer is: "No rotary joystick? No Ikari Warriors. No thanks."

Damn... You know MKL I never thought of that as I tend to get really over zealous with my fandom of the NEO and all. All solid points... guess I'll just dream about a Nam-1965 (that's actually based on the war) or a POW II.

Thanks for bringing this overlooked issue up!

I'd love to see a new Ikari Warriors, especially on their home system.

Playmore, are you listening?

How about a new Ikari Warriors set up like the original Shock Troopers? ;)

That would kick so much ass! I would love to see Heidern, Ralf, Clark, and Leona on a Shock Troopers style game! I played the original Ikari Warrior and it was OK, but I want to see how well done it would be now!

Ikari III the best in the series? No way. The original is the best. Victory Road was garbage. I never liked Ikari III. But it definitely looked the best. Fist fighting in an Ikari Warriors game? Crap.

I'd love to see an Ikari IV. They make all of these Shock Troopers and Metal Slug shooters...why not a new Ikari? Ok so they have to get rid of the rotational control. There are 4 buttons, they could figure something out.
