Home cart system woes

I just got a home cart system in a package that has a serial number in the 11000 range. The outer casing is in really good cosmetic condition but as with most early system, it has trouble booting up games on the first try. After a few tries, they do work.

I am thinking that the contacts on the system need to be cleaned. What is the best way to do this?

Hey., I'm looking for this info too but got no reply.

I am using a squeezed cotton bud spray with video head clean to clean the slot. Do NOT spray into the slot and the cart, sometime the damn plastic melt!

whaT? Melt the plastic? Thats some powerful s*** you got man.

If your using brand new cartridges, they do have a slight film on the contacts, and it simply wears off after a few insertions and works fine. Otherwise make sure you are inserting the cart *exactly* straight up from the machine. You may have to lean it forward a little as you insert it, not too much though!

ok well this happened to me a couple times. see with some higher meg count games (400 and up usually) the system has a problem booting them. for what ever reason this is, what i usually do is only insert the game about 1/2 way. insert the game fully but then kind give a gentle tug up wards and then try booting. usually works on the 2nd try or so. i do this all the time and with the right feel you can get it every time.

The brand I used is Naruta or something, it is a spray can cleaner for VCR head.

It distroyed my Last Blade and Neo AES bottom case plastic.

I use an old "universal" cleaning kit made by performance to clean my home system, also works with PC Engine, etc. , works great.

And Winston, remind me never to buy a system off you, <img src="graemlins/tickled.gif" border="0" alt="[Tickled]" /> , just kidding.

Guys, please read my MANY old posts on this topic - some replies some new threads as I was sick of repeating myself so much! ;)

Wouldn't use head cleaner - use proper contact cleaner, non-lubricating type. Check my old posts for more details.

Actually, bugger it - I'm gonna put the info on my site....

Watch this space!....
