I picked up a Shock Troopers MVS cart last weekend on ebay for around $40. I was a bit skeptical after the lukewarm ST 2nd Squad. There were no pictures for the auction so of course I was expecting the worst. I was pleasantly surprised to find a mint cart with english label and shiny barely used gold contacts sitting outside my door yesterday. I was even more surprised at how well this puppy plays, looks and sounds. What a sleeper. How this never got more publicity is beyond me. I guess people at the time were too enthralled with their "real" shooters like "Contra legacy of war" for PS to really care. What a shame.

You've just discovered one of the best Neo games, actually one of the best action/shoot'em up games...

Enjoy :)

I got Shock Troopers recently, too! I love the game to bits. Just trying to get a decent high score...roll, stab, roll, stab, roll, stab, roll, stab, roll, stab, roll, stab, roll, stab, roll, stab, roll, stab...collect blue gems!

Congratulations! You made a wise choice. :D "How this never got more publicity is beyond me" indeed, it deserves to be so much more well-known. Truly the most underappreciated game on the Neo-Geo.

P.S. the link in my sig is my woefully-outdated-but-still-there Shock Troopers website <img src="graemlins/mrt2.gif" border="0" alt="[Mr T]" />

Oh boy, score discussion! ;) What kind of scores are you getting now?

For the highest possible score, play the Jungle-Valley route. There's a more advanced method of squeezing points out of enemies besides the usual close-range attacks, but it's not recommended to focus on that until you can finish the game on one credit...

I love Angel, but I love Milky a little more too... I dunno why, she's just so badass. :) Maybe it's because Angel's voice is kinda scary... "READY BOYZ"

JEAH! Now I can post Shock Trooper contributions without feeling guilty about it being in a Sengoku 3 thread.

I simply can't get enough of this game. I loved it on the MVS system back in late '97 and I'm in hog heaven with owning the thing on my homecart using the converter. I am however wondering, if anyone knows where I might be able to procure this great gem in it's limited !Arcade! MVS-to-AES converted cartridge I've heard and seen a picture of with it's snap case? If this was never a home cart officially or just one of the limited releases why can't I find anyone selling this sucker even at a high price... personally I'd buy the thing for $500 bucks (I'm betting I'll get slammed by Liquid for this remark) because I honestly love this game, in fact I'd say it's my favorite shoot em' up waste em' all action adventure for any console etc, even beating out my love for the Metal Slug games (though I must have every slug game :)

So what was that high score BBH? I'd like to have some friendly competition with you if you don't mind. I'm able to make it pretty damn far without a single continue (or losing one man, since I have that second version with the 3 hits your dead and then the 2nd and 3rd character comes in). I probably won't beat you but it be nice to try, since I don't find many ppl who like this kind of thing these days.

Well I'm outta' here... I'm being recalled to Natorm Headquarters....

BACK TO THE HELL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, since you asked... :D my record is 37,669,300... as far as I know it's the highest score in the world, as the Gamest record I found was 31.3 million. I was stuck at the 29 million mark for a long time, but then I found out that turning Blood on in the soft dips actually hurts your chance at getting the highest score possible. Strange...

I know 38 million is at least possible, I'm still going for that :D

AMEN!!!!!!!!! <img src="graemlins/mrt2.gif" border="0" alt="[Mr T]" />

You're in San Antonio huh? That was the first place I ever played Shock Troopers actually, at one of the Diversions there. I'll never forget the first time I played it with headphones plugged in... that was quite an experience.

YES SIR BBH! That Diversions Game Room was probably the one off of San Pedro Drive and Sahara Road a little ways off from the now old location of the Game World store I once worked at on Blanco Rd back in '96-'97 before Electronics Boutique scooped up the store from Aaron Fischer and made it an EB chain the way Babbages did Game Stop. Shock Troopers does indeed rock, oh yeah... do you know of that elusive AES cart or is it just a bunch of bullshit? Oh and have you checked out my posting for a IKARI IV? I'll always love Shock Troopers but I want a return to the IKARI madness as well.

Shock Troopers is indeed a great game. Did yours come in the cool RED cartridge casing? :)

Thanks for the tip, I was wondering which was the best route to use!

Right now I'm no way near that kind of score! Only had it for a week or two...I cant complete the game without loosing a few continues yet. I saw your sig a while back so I knew I had to improve. I will beat you eventually! Well...err...no I wont, most likely :D
