I bought an inexpensive second Neo AES system (in preparation for SVC CHAOS) and it looks like this one is going to need some new slots as the originals are way loose and results in graphical glitches in just about every game.

Anyone had theirs replaced recently? What can I expect to pay to have this service done?

I generally charge around $65 + return shipping to do slot replacement.

You should invest in a solder fountain. I've done 2 384 pin connectors in about 2 minutes with one :)

That doesn't sound bad. Let me give the slots one last thorough cleaning first to see if that doesn't help things. I'll PM you if I decide to go with the replacement. BTW, this looks to be a first gen US system (serial # 11668)...does that have any bearing on the replacement?

I went ahead and posted the specs in your thread. For what it's worth, it's identical to the very first one you posted in that thread:

PRO-POW-UL
Model no. NEO-O
Input:
120V~60Hz 22W
Output:
DC5V 3A
(+)---( 0-----(-)

Hmm...I just gave my carts and system slot a thorough cleaning (using a small stick-like toothbrush). Here are my results and I'm wondering if the problem isn't even the cart slot...

* All carts now boot up fine and on the first try, BUT...every single game exhibits some strange jumping/glitchy/out of sync line of graphics at the top part of the screen. The line of glitching seems to only affect the top 1 inch of each game and extends across the screen horizontally.
The games are certainly playable and there are no sound glitches or anything like that, but this is kind of an odd problem as only the top inch of the screen is affected by the jumping, glitching problem! Each game is affected by the problem.

This backup Neo that I bought does appear to have been dropped or something as there is a crack on the back portion that extends from where the A/V socket is to about where the cart slot begins. Could this problem be the result of either a damaged rom chip or perhaps the A/V connector got jolted somehow? Is this a common problem?

Should I get a new A/V cable and see what that does? Or does this appear to be the result of loose slots?

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! tickled
It was my shitty 10 year old TV that I was testing this unit on! For whatever reason, it doesn't seem to like this particular Neo! I just tried it on a newer TV I have and not only are the graphics glitch-free, but the picture is ultra clear and clean! Not to mention, after the thorough cleaning, it appears that my slots were just dirty! No need to replace!

BRING ON SVC CHAOS!!!! :D
