I'm currently using the Universe BIOS on my 2 slot MVS board and it works great. However since I'm using the built in joystick ports instead of wiring up my own controllers I use the select button to insert coins. Since select is used for coins, I can't use it to switch between games. Is there a way to wire a button to switch between games and still use the select button for coins?

Also is there a way to wire a pause switch when using the Universe bios?

If I were you I'd use the select button for switching between games and set the board to freeplay (in MVS mode).

You can hardwire a pause switch to DIP #8, that's independent of the unibios.

Can you set the select button for switching between games in the Universe BIOS? I can't remember if that was an option or if the coin insert was always mapped to it.

Are there any disadvantages of always having it on freeplay vs. having to insert coins?

Well, that's the default option. The unibios allows select to work as coin. On multi-slots however this will only work when just one cart is inserted.

Not that I can see...

and ... why don't you just set it to 'console' mode?
Because there are some issues with console mode: <a href="http://unibios.free.fr/knownissues.html" target="_blank">http://unibios.free.fr/knownissues.html</a>
