ROTD compatibility issue or boot?

I know... I'm never around here until I'm in trouble. I'm terrible that way.

anyway, I just grabbed an MVS rage of the dragons off of ebay which says it's confirmed working, but I'm having a heckuva time. I'm getting random reboots and scrambled graphics to the level of unplayability. I've cleaned everything, contacts on both sides are great, fit is good and tight.

I've searched about in here a bit and I've come across quite a few threads mentioning compatibility issues on playmore titles. They seem to lean more toward the phantom-1 converter, but could these be effecting my MV-1C? Before I go back to ebay trying to get some poor guy hung, is this a hardware incompatibility on my end? If it is compatibility, which boards are better with these? Is this finally my excuse to upgrade to a 4-slot?

I've opened the cart and note that it has been opened before. I don't know what to look for on a bootleg, but I could shoot a picture of the boards if necessary.

More specific (boring/probably useless) details:
Occasional reboot loops at start.
reboots a couple seconds into the instruction screen unless skipped or disabled
certain areas scramble/reboot the game every time, like highlighting the girl on the top right for more than half a second.
Most non-fatal graphic errors seem to be vertical bars 'sticking'

From what I've played this is an incredible game. Grapics are nice, especially the static artwork, and AI pulls some attractive combos right from the start--too bad I've only managed to complete one game.

There's a fix for it but you gotta search for it. Do you have a unibios?

well, now armed with "unibios" in my search string, I've uncovered quite a few other threads.

Correct me if I've confused myself, but since it's not working out of the box, my alternatives are to 'do the fix' or use unibios. From what I've read I can also try clearing my backup memory (why would that help?).

I don't own a unibios, and don't much care for the idea of it, so it looks like my alternative is to do the fix--or undo it if the last guy fixed it (because the cart has been opened). I haven't found a good instruction link to this fix yet. What a pain! I wish this game didn't look worth all this trouble...

well, I'm actually still looking for a good how-to on this fix.
I found this thread, which seems to picture one fix--but I'd really like to see the first fix, or a thread that discusses the different fixes.

Could anybody provide me with this information?

I figured I'd give this another try, but searching the forum turns up mentions of the fix and threads with dead pics of it. If anybody here knows where I can find this info, or saved a copy of it somewhere, I'd be greatful.

Below I took 3 pics of my boards. The first is an overall of the board that I believe is in question. Second is a closer shot of the area which is to be modified, and the third is a shot of the other board. I just want to know what I can do to mine to get it to work, or if a better use of my time is ordering unibios or searching for a good 4-slot.

alot of the newer playmore titles have these issues. your best and simplest course of action would be to get a decent 2 slot. they are more reliable than 4 slots(4 slots being 2 layer pcbs, they are more prone to failure) 2 slots have no issues with rotd and newer title. plus, it has a built in memory card reader, controller ports, and a socketed bios which makes a unibios upgrade extremely easy.

your board looks legit from what i can tell.

From what I've read it's basically a difference of jumper settings.

Unfixed
R6=221 jumper
R3=open
R1=472 Jumper
C6=jumpered

Fixed
R6=none
R3=soldered bridge
R1=none
C6=none

Do the fix but get a unibios anyway.
