Got my dedicated 2 slot MVS, and wondering how do I change the machine from coin mode to freeplay mode, and vice versa? It doesn't look like the The "Setting the Hard Dips" menu lets you change anything, and I'm guessing by the term hard dips that they have to be changed on the PCB directly. I looked at the MV2F manual but didn't see the dips, does the metal cover have to be taken off to get it at?

Depends on what board you are using , one of the dip switches controlls freeplay (on-off) its usually the second to last " #7 "

Yeah, it looks like its #7 for this board (2 slot) but the real question is where is it located ;)

There is a block of dips near the JAMMA edge on 2 and 4 slots... I am not sure if they are there on all boards. Which board do you have?

Its a 2 slot board. However, I learned that there's a couple of different versions. It appears that I have the different version (not the same as the manual on Briggs' site) becuase my cab is the U.S. mini cab. Since the cab is so small and the board crammed in there I can't really see much. I was hoping it was by the Jamma harness, I would be able to change it without any problems, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Looks like I'll have to remove the board and take the metal shell off to see. Guess I'll have to do that anyway, since there's quite a bit of dust in there

Well, wherever the dips are on that board, they should be reachable without taking the metal cover off. They may not look obvious at first, but they are somewhere along the edge of the board. You should be able to see them when you remove the board. Good idea as well, if it is really dusty, give it a good cleaning! :)

Nruva,

On my 4-slots, the dip switch #7 is in the up potiion. Should it be down? Will this give me free-play? Also under free-play, can I select a game without hitting the credit button? How do you setup attract mode on a 4-slot? Is it possible?

If the game is set on coins, changing dip 7 should put it on Freeplay. Did you check the Hard Dips menu in the service mode?

Also in the service mode there is a menu "setting up the cabinet" under setting the soft dips. Game Select should be on "free" and Game Start Compulsion on "without" (although I'm not 100% sure on what the option does) So with those set you shouldn't need to press the credit button to change games, and the board will cycle through all 4 slots for the attract mode.
