well, I got one of the new mv-1c's from the neo store and I want to hook up a pause button to it.

I saw the faq for it and it looks more like the bottom of a 4 slot, which looks different under the dip switches then the on in the faq at mvsHard

any thoughts?

Hmmm??,

Seems to me you would just need less zip ties, but I thinking it would be basically the same process.

The thing is, the bottom of the mv-1c looks different then the bottom of the 4 slot. The solder spots look different....and I don't want to F' it up...

but this new supergun I am working on needs a pause button.

any suggestions?

dip switches are simple switches like any other, it's contact open or contact closed.. nothing to fuck up there. there should be a row of 2x8 contacts beneath the dips, just connect the 8th pair with a switch.

they don't really look the same to me...

I'll assume the dips are above the 4 chips in that shaky pic.. just connect the outmost point (closer to the edge) of dip 8 to the point next to it, above the row of resistors (?).

you can simply test the points before soldering by connecting those 2 points with a wire (just hold it to them).. if it pauses, you got the right ones.

Sorry about the shaky pic, but it's the best out of about 5 pis. :(

will using the wrong pin on a test mess anything up?

What I see is one row of 8, right on the edge, the two rows of connected spots, then another row of 8 on the other side. So, I would use the 8 pin on the side closest to the edge of the mb and the same one on the row on the other side of the connected ones? or the one closest to the row near the edge?

I am really new at tinkering with electronics and I don't know what could F' up my stuff and what will not...so I am extra careful! :)

Nah,

It looks the same, I'm pretty sure you won't ruin anything by testing it that way. Just take your time and tape off the other pins so you don't accidently connect them. Just follow Briggs Pause button project and it should come out all right.

even if you did accidently connect them, nothing would happen.. one side is ground, the other a line to a chip.. so in the worst case you ground two pins at once, "turning on" two switches at once.

so, from my picture up there, which two pins would you connect? try first? Just the two from the two rows closest to the edge? or the row that is the 4th row from the edge and the row right on the edge?

assuming that's dip 8, anyways.. if it's dip 1, use the one on the opposite site of course.

Sorry about needing the layman's explenation on this, but I am just over cautious with this type of thing since I can't afford another one right now.

Also, THANKS LOADS!!!!!!!!!!!! That's exactly what I needed!! Perfectly clear and easy for a rookie of this tech stuff like myself :)
