I recently picked this game up for my MVS system. Having never played the game before I generally snubbed the game due to its strange title and theme. Boy was that a mistake. This game is really fun and challenging. If you like Magical Drop III then you'll probably really like this one too. Face did a great job with this game. :)

I love that game Larry.

Actually,it blasts away the magical drops series.

More challenge and action, magical drop is quite boring in comparison.

About time someone else mention Money Puzzle/Idol Exchanger (other than myself). To me, it's the best puzzle game the Neo-Geo has to offer (and perhaps the best puzzle game I've ever played, period!). It was the game that got a whole bunch of my friends hooked on the Neo-Geo (after Metal Slug, that is). As far as I know, I know that:

-Many of the voice actors appear in other anime/video game series (the VA for Sakura/Exchanger is the Japanese VA for Sakura on Card Captor Sakura [ironic, isn't it?] and the voice of Kasumi in DOA 2 [and I believe 3 as well]).

-There was a Playstation version released in 1998, and shortly after that, Face (the company that made that game) went out of business. Sad really; I still want to see a sequel to MPE (but I don't think that it'll happen).

I love it, especially the 2 players mode <img src="graemlins/glee.gif" border="0" alt="[Glee]" />

When I have ER bonus, What i prefer is :
1)
make several stack of : 100 10 1
so exchange all this :5 50 500.
2)
Wait until the screen is nearly full
3)
place 2 or 3 ER bonus on 100 10 1
and .... ! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[LOL]" />

I just finished playing this yesterday. It's a great game but geez it's pretty hard. I guess I need more practice. Still I think it's head and shoulders above MD3

Yes, this is a grossly under-rated game only for MVS. I personally like it better than the Magical Drop series. Many people got turned on to it at the last MN GT.
NGF did a good insert for it, too:

Too bad it has those ugly stamps on it.

This game would make a good !Arcade! project.

wow, seems like there's a surprising number of people who find Exchanger to be better than the Magical Drop series... and I agree! It's a fantastically addicting game. My biggest gripe though is that the timing for chains is REALLY TIGHT compared to Magical Drop... there are times when a chain has stopped right as I'd thrown some coins into the mix to try to extend the chain. Just a little extra leeway woulda been nice.

My best score on Solo Play was 57, but I barely break the 50's now :(

Money Idol Exchanger is definitely more complex and challenging than Magical Drop, but that's why I like it. Money Idol Exchanger has everything going for it: cute character designs, cool voice acting, and addictive, challenging gameplay. It is IMO the best puzzle game ever. It whoops Tetris's butt. Now if I could only get my hands on a copy...
