Are we still allowed to discuss conversions? Apologies if we're not but i'm having some weird sound bugs with a MS conversion I just bought.
The game itself plays fine but theres some weird shit going on with the sound effects. You first notice it on the 'How to play' screen where there are 5 exaggerated loud notes that shouldn't be there. Theres also part of one of the main in-game tunes that has a weird hiccup-y noise and there are layers of some of the music tracks missing so it doesn't sound right. I've cleaned the contacts so I don't think it's that and i've played my other (Jeff Kurtz) conversion to make sure i'm not hearing things but theres definitely something wrong.
Any ideas?

We aren't allowed to discuss conversions cos' of that conversions rampage that happed some time ago. People were trying to convert everything even a viewpoint MVS cart.

Personally I think that knowledge should be free and just like everything in the world, we can do good things with it and some bad things also.

What do you expect from a conversion? Conversions are fakes of the AES carts. So, what do you expect? It ain't gonna work like the legal cart. Even tho, Metal Slug is expensive for the home carts, you could get a Phatnom-1 and get the MVS cart. But, conversions are illegal and they aren't gonna work like the real cart.

Selling conversions for profit it's illegal or selling then as an original cart. If you keep then for yourself or sell then as a converted cart isn't illegal.

They are going to work like real carts, after all we are talking here of originals SNK boards and chips.

Its illegial to sell a conversion PIEROD.

You have a poorly done conversion, and that is all.

shame on you, support SNK, buy the real deal1

Basically, who did the conversion must have done a shitty job. So, basically, it's poorly done, therefore it's gonna have errors. Conversions are illegal to sell period, because you making a profit of an bootleg product that is unlicensed by SNK, so, if SNK Playmore finds that out, the seller could go to court for copyright infringement.

Only if you use EEPROMs instead of SNK original roms.

Btw, I don't believe this SNKPLAYMORE court talk anymore, even the dynamic duo managed to won SNKPLAYMORE at the court.

As I said before, my Jeff Kurtz conversion plays 100% fine Jedite.

Blah blah. Should've expected this.

This thread was obviously a bad idea. Some people really get off on flaming on this board and quite frankly it's a little sad. I wasn't looking to spark the old conversions argument, I just wanted some advice. If I prefer to own a game I can play for 1/10 the price of one that other people would rather see on the shelf and jack off to thats my decision i'm afraid.
Apologies to the mods for starting this thread. I knew selling wasn't allowed but I didn't know we couldn't discuss conversions.

If you have some basic knowledge (using a multimeter, (de)soldering, etc.) you might want to open the cart and inspect the PCBs for bad soldering job or incorrect jumper settings. Correct settings can be found here:

Good luck!
