I've got a 4-slot MVS board and I know that switch 7 is free play, but what are the others for? Do any enable pause? I heard that somewhere. Thanks in advance for any replies.

PS: I used the search feature and found a thread, but the answer was in a dead link.

switch one accesses the soft/hard dips menu, two through six i have no idea, 7 is free play, and eight is pause.

2-6 are for link games, if you change them, you'll likely experience messed up controls.

BTW if switch 8 is pause does it mean that if you want to make a pause you have to crawl inside your cab. and switch it in the middle of the game? tough isn't it?

Or is it just that you can add a switch directly on the cab. and press it to pause when #8 is activated.

you can wire a switch to the 2 solder points of dip 8 (not 7) and attach that near the front to pause the game.

2-6 aren't specially designated just for link games. They often access hidden characters and other various debugging features.

eek! I AM JUST FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS NOW?!

What games use this? My MVS will be rockin' with Krizalid and Rugal, I hope.

The debug dips ARE the mvs dipswitches. If you add a second dipswitch the open area on your motherboard marked "dipswitch2" you can access everything the debug settings can do.

Definitely! After it's installed, you can access Krizalid by flipping dipswitch Dips 1-3 and 2-3 on at the 'How to Play Screen'. Once you're on the player select screen, Highlight either K' or Maxima, Press and Hold Start and then press any button to get version 1 of Krizalid or press and hold select then press any button to play as version 2. Once you have selected him, Turn the Dips off and resume normal play.

so you've got to add a whole dipswitch bank to the board?

instead of purchasing a uni-bios?

seems like a bit of effort to me.

Kernow makes a point, though. As cool as it is to flip hard dips I don't trust my soldering skills enough to add those dips. I need a uniBIOS, soon...

But it's so much more manly when you manually use the onboard dipswitches :D
