Strange sound problem on 6 slot w/ KOF2000

Hey all, I recently picked up a 6-slot board for my project cabinet and I've been enjoying it for a few weeks now. The strangest thing happens when KOF2000 is on the board.

Whenever I beat a game (I've tried this with two separate games, Puzzle Bobble and Metal Slug), and the machine goes back to the attract mode, the sound quits working as soon as the KOF2000 attract mode starts up. The sound starts working again after I turn the machine off and on again, though. I've tried shuffling carts around on the board and cleaning all the pin connectors, but I don't think that's the problem.

Again, the problem ONLY occurs after I beat a game. Anyone have any ideas? Could this just be a design flaw in the 6-slot?

This could be caused by numerous things.

Bootleg Carts.(make sure none of your carts are bootlegs.

Not enough 5 + voltage to the Mother board from the power supply.(6 slots are power hungry)

Back Up Ram needing to be cleared.

Cart Combination..(some carts don't like to work right with others)
Try each cart separately-by itself in the board.

Dirty Carts...

It's probably normal. I have a lot of games that do stuff like that in a 2-slot. The more slots you have, the more likely you'll get a cart in there that won't cooperate.

i have the same exact problem, but with RBFFS. however, it only occurs when paired with slug 2 in my 2 slot. it seems strange, but i think that some mvs combos just dont like each other. i could also see slug 2 being a hog on the board considering how slow it runs, do you have a slug 2 in your board?

no, my lineup is the following: puzzle bobble, samurai showdown, metal slug, kof2000, last blade 2, svc chaos. I've tried swapping puzzle bobble and samurai showdown for league bowling and sengoku, but no effect. If what you said about some cart combinations not liking each other, then it's probably too many 'giga power' games in there or something.

Remove the other carts like,svc chaos.. kof2000, last blade 2,


I've never had a problem with and of these
:puzzle bobble and samurai showdown,league bowling and sengoku
(unless a boot)running with somthing else..it was another cart causing the problem.

I occasionally get this in my 4 slot, but it seems to happen only when League Bowling is also in there.

I have looked into this problem and the only thing I think causes it is most likely different M ROM Z80 music structure. Its known that their are different versions and I think th systems don't like when certin versions are next to each other. The most likely way to fix the problem is to try and swap the ordering of the games in the unit, this may help or move the problem to happen on a different game.

I get the same issue with my 4 slot whenever matrimelee is in there...all kinds of funny things happen, scrolling through carts 1 cyvle all 4 carts they will all be there, then keep pressing the button and some dissapear, then they come back...then the sounds stops working.......totally weird, but only when that cart is in, works fine all the other time. But matrimelee plays fine on it's own?? Ah well, it happens, works fine all the other time so i just have to not leave matri in.
