My friend brought up an interesting argument the other day, he compared Nam-1975 to Cabal on the NES. Of course these are both target-shooting games, but I never thought to compare them. I have only seen Cabal in action, never played it for myself, but I doubt that it could top the almighty Nam. So I'll throw this out here, which do you think is the better game, why, etc etc. ^^

I have played and enjoyed both, and I will have to say that the almighty and everlasting Nam outdoes Cabal in every way.

In my view, Nam outdoes Cabal in atmosphere. Remember the first time you heard that voice over in the intro? Yea, me too. Something about it - I know it sounds corny.. Just takes you there. Nam is also a much challenging game.

Cabal was, and still is a worthy game to check out. I like it for it's sense of humor and trackball control. A true original.

On a side note, you may also wish to check out Wild Guns on the SNES. A fun, and extremely challenging game like those mentioned above. Don't know why, but that game reminds me of Trigun?

Comparing the NES version of Cabal is unfair! You guys would rather have to compar it with the AMIGA version or the arcade one either. At least, they're 16-Bit! NAM outclasses cabal.

Personally i wouldn't say they were similar games

It like saying Operation wolf is the same as Nam 1975 because it side way scrolls

Nam is better anyway

If i had to choose a game like Cabal i would pick Blood Bros - better game and has cowboys :) :)

Personally I prefer Operation Wolf and Operation Thunderbolt to either of these titles (C'mon Taito you know you want to rerelease these games!!!)

I can't play Nam '75 because it takes me back to the War and I'm still sufering with PTSD...

I personally like NAM-1975 over Cabal when comparing it to the Famicom (NES) version, but the arcade Cabal was the shizits at the time it came out and if I remember right it pre-dated NAM by a couple of years. My only real complaints about NAM was the final boss being a real bastard, and that SNK never released a sequel.

Well I'm being recalled to Natorm Headquarters so It's back to the hell again!

I still love my A1200 / A2000 computers! Oh yes, Cabal was kick-ass on the Amiga!

Who knows, SNK does have strange ways of bringing back old obscure titles... maybe a Nam-1974 for the Crystal System might be in order...

In the Amiga-version of Cabal there is a complete world with 4 levels missing and the bomb-movement sucks.

Yeah Operation Wolf and Thunderbolt were brilliant.

Same goes for the Terminator 2 scrolling shooter game. Hard, but excellent. I personally like them more than the new stuff (time crisis, House of the Dead), because they provide more action!

Operation Wolf only released on PC Engine and it's a pain to play it by using controller pad.

Operation Thunderbolt was on NES only, right?

Personally I prefer Nam75......much much better than those two home conversions.

Wrong both titles were also released for Commodore Amiga. In case of Operation Wolf it was also available on Commodore 64.
