MVS 'Supergun' Shells (Cases)

Ok here's a question: Does anyone make and sell cases (shells) for homemade MVS Superguns? Right now my 'supergun' is a loose 2 slot board with a bunch of wires sticking out of it. I really want to put it in a case, but I don't know how to go about building a decent looking one.

BTW is anyone going to be making a replacement for the shock box? I think Big Bear said he wasn't making any more (although I could be wrong).

Why don't you want to customize the case yourself? IMO, that's part of the fun.....

making it "Yours" :D

But to answer your question, nope...I don't know anyone who would make the cover for you.

are you looking for a regular metal cover for the 2 slot that someone just cut the holes out of and painted? Or a case to enclose the whole thing in?

I was hoping for a case. I have a metal cover that came with the board (I think it's actually part of the MVS kit), that I really don't see a use for (other than maybe protecting the chips from being smashed) since it's pretty flimsy. I'm looking for a nice box to put the board, wires, and power supply in.

Something like that would have to be totally customized. The case would have to be pretty big to fit the 2 slot. There are questions such as:

-Did you want the games to be loaded through opening up the case or did you want the games to be able to be loaded through holes cut in the side of the case?

-Did you want it to be a metal case? Wood? Plastic? or do you care?

-Do you want it to be easily portable? w/ a handle or two...or is it going to just sit there like a vcd or dvd player?

-do you already have all the pieces? (rca jacks, controller ports, etc)

-Will you need easy access to the mem card slot, headphones, volume controls, etc?

-How much are you willing to pay?

These things all make a huge difference in what you use and what you need to make it. Making the case and having everything fit nicely how you want it, is the hardest part of making a supergun....imo.

Anyways, I have too many projects of my own, but answering these questions might give other people a better idea of if they want to take on this project for you or not.

good luck!

I had that problem so I made one with plexiglass. You can see it here: http://thevendor.mit.edu/2slot

wow, that is very nice indeed! Great job cutting out the game slots!!!

Is the plexiglass hard to work with? does it take paint well? What did you use to cut out those game slots? Is plexiglass costly?

Tempest: this might be an option for you, unless you are really set on someone else making the case for you.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. Something nice and simple. Maybe I'll try that.

HEY! Are you Colin Wu? That looks exactly like the 2 slot he showcased years ago.
NICE JOB! Very NICE!
You would receive plenty of demand for a casing if you decided to make them.

hardware_hack you should send pics of your supergun and joysticks to http://www.sgrepository.com/ if you havent already. Cool idea. How did you make such clean holes for the slots? I've found not melting the plexy to be difficult. Makes me want to build a all plexy joystick. What would make a nice detail to your super gun would be to counter sink the bolts for the top. I would use black flat top screws with the nuts inside the box and the screw head outside. It would make for a very clean look. Not that it doesnt look clean already. Just a finishing detail is all. :D

Tempest, you could go here to find all sorts of excellent cases for super guns:
