hi ,

i tried many times to build a ghostlop mvs cart for me.
jeff kurtz explained that:

c1 and c2 : 27c322
v1 : 27c 160
p1 27 c800
m1 : 27c010
s1 : 27c1000 (no wires needed)

i use a progbk1 and a cha256.

when finished, game work perfectly!

but after few minuts, always reset....

and after more time, nothing, only cross hatch test....

i tried many times, with many carts, and always the same thing....

i'm going crazy!! please help!

I would guess that the jumper settings are incorrect. Do you have a list of working jumpers and if so did you add/remove them from the boards accordingly? Could be something else as well but thats my guess.

i thinkin about that too, but it's strange cause the game work correctly for a time, it's like something is broken after a little bit of time?

when i remove all the jumpers, i always got a cross hatch test screen....

that's very weird!

What game did you use? When I used WH2J I didnt have to change any jumpers at all.

2 slots with unibios 2.3

Double check the jumper settings, it shouldnt be reseting like that. Has the 2 slot ever reset using other games?

If you have a bad sound EPROM the sound would have issues... and if you have a bad graphics EPROM then the graphics would have issues... but neither should cause the game to reset in my experience.

Check the program EPROMs... I bet you either have a bad socket, bad solder joint, or a bad EPROM. It could also be that you are using an EPROM that is too slow, in other words has too big of a speed rating. The lower the number the better. (150ns vs 70ns - 70ns is faster and would be preferred)

Then either the code is bad, the programmer isn't programming them properly, or the EPROMs are not fast enough on their read cycle times.

I have been wanting to build one of these for awhile but I dont have an eprom programmer yet so its kind of a mute point. Is there a list anywere of which games came on which boards and what their jumper settings were? I guess I can always try and track down a junk copy of WH2J if that boardset will work but I figure that would be good info to have up somewere...if not maybe I should start the list up! Hell it probably already exists I just havent searched hard enough for it yet.

Not having to mess with the jumpers is the best way to go about it.

Bumping this up, I picked up a WH2J to do a Ghostlop conversion and the prog board is a proggsc, not progbk1. This board is a direct swap, correct?

In a somewhat related topic, is there anything documented about jumper settings on boards as they relate to ROM sizes?

Yup, WH2J is a direct swap.

has been a long time since I messed with this...

I don't think kof95 uses the same boards as SamSho2 or WH2J.

It´s possible to adjust the kof95 board to play the game but you´ll have to find the correct jumper setting and the correct resistor setting for it.

You could try to mess around with the resistor setting since you dont have any grafx or sound problem.

What could also happened is that you damaged the kof95 board when you desoldered the roms.

after a long time searching,

i finally founded the correct jumper and resistor sttings with a kof 95 sac cart.
and it play perfectly!

thanks for your help!

next time i will try to build a diggerman cart, but i don't have any idea how to do it.
i think there is no official cart of this game, and on ebay price is too high for this game ...

if someone can help for this ,
let me know!

it´s a bad homebrew game... not worth the trouble of doing it. You´ll probably play it for 2 minutes and never play it again.

Aof2 and GDsp share the same WHj pcbs, are there any chance they could also be direct swap?
