4 Slot Battery Question

I searched through the tech forum and did not find the answer to my questions so here goes. I have a 4 slot that, as far as I know, the battery has never been replaced on. If left unplugged for a few days it forgets all its settings. So I was wondering how long should a battery last and does anyone know of a replacment part number from Mouser.com? I am going to put in an order soon for some other parts that I need for some other projects I am working on and figure I might as well order and replace the battery at the same time.

Hey man,
The part number listed on the battery of my 4 slot is
VG2430. That's the number is says on the battery. Just go to radio shack and give them the number and they'll show you the correct one. It's a good idea to replace the battery every 5 years or so, especially if you are having trouble with yours.

Varta # 55608303012

Rechargeable High Capacity Ni-MH Button Cells 3/V80H 2 Pins

That one works for MV2 and MV2-F, MV4, and MV4F boards.

DOES NOT WORK FOR MV6

When you install it on a 4 slot board you need to solder it in place (you have to bend the legs out a bit to make 'em fit in the holes. Once that is done you take a flat head screwdriver and push on the legs near the bottom to bend them flat against the board and at a right angle to the battery body.

This will make the battery sit against the board and leave a space between the battery and the top board otherwise the battery will rub on the top board which is not a good thing.

Oh, and when installing on an MV4 you need to trim one side of one of the legs to keep it away from a trace on the board.

The reason it doesn't fit on the MV6 is that the MV4 has an empty board space above the battery on the top board. The MV6 does not and has chip pins sticking down which will pierce the insulation on the battery and short it out.

Is this a coin style battery?
I took out my 4slot and opened it up to check the battery. It looks like a stacked coin style...here is a picture:

It is on an MVH-MV4 board. I should probably replace the battery on my MV-1C and my 6 slot (which should arrive here on tuesday) as well...I dont know if they have ever been replaced either.

This may sound stupid but I didnt know you could swich rechargable battery types like that! I build guitar/bass petals and do repairs on music equipment all the time but I have little to no experience with batterys (except non rechargables). Thanks that will make finding a replacement for these other boards alot easier!

You just need to match voltage and milliamp hours (or exceed for hours).

Wow, that battery looks completely different than the one in my 4-slot. The one in mine has the shape of a CMOS battery you'd see in a PC.
