Can the original SNES be AV modded because I don't want to use the RF adaptor anymore? :)

The GC AV plug fits but it doesn't work. :spock:

Anyone know? :)

Just buy a SNES A/V cable. Hell, go out and buy one of those cheapy "universal" ones that says it works for SNES, N64, and GC. They work like a charm.

Yeah, they were all the same plug. Someone said something about an S-video mod, but it doesn't seem worth it.

The original snes outputs composite AV, s-vid and rgb from the one port.

You just need the right cable. I don't see why the snes won't run av if you are trying one from a cube as they are the same lead!?!

I've tried the S-video output from SNES and N64 and it looks pretty bad. It looks really pixelated and just plain ugly. The composite helps to smooth over the blockiness. Maybe RGB would look better?

BTW, I got my cables from here, http://www.ztnetstore.com/ . They've got a lot of good inexpensive stuff for old/new consoles. I've bought from him many times.

The GC cable didn't work? That's odd. I use a Monster s-video cable for both my SNES and GC with no problems. The SNES looks fantastic over s-video.

I have been using s-video for all 3 machines and it looks great. I picked up some monster cables cheap on clearance and it worked great for all the systems. The N64 does have some graphics that are so smooth but looks pretty clear with the s-video cables.
I wired up a rgb cable for my snes and used the Jrok board and it looks great on component. Not to pixelly but clear and bright.

as said before, you can use the GC cable for the SNES. if you have an AV switch with s-video it looks great, much better than composite.

Insane!! You're all insane!!! I guess I'll just have to post some pics. I tried the two different tv's and s-video looked worse in my opinion. You're using the multi-av connector on the back right? Monster cables won't affect the quality of the picture coming from there, just from the receiver to the tv.

I tried the GC cable on my original SNES but no picture would show up on the screen and only a black screen would show. What is the switch on the back of the SNES for? :spock: :)

I think the switch only determines whether the RF modulator chooses channel 3 or 4. The multi-av out should be automatically enabled as far as I remember.

There is another issue to consider.....

Many cheap SNES/N64/GCN cables DO NOT use the VHS pins on the connector...

Many just take the Composite and split it. This is why some people might notice it looking like shit. Split SVHS is worse than composite.

Or so I'm told.
