I also posted this at SGR.
When I built the first model of my supergun, I ran into an issue concerning grounds. My case is grounded to earth through the green wire in the power cord. When I was doing the stereo jacks, I realized that since they are chassis-mount the ground (outside) of the jacks would now be connected to earth ground. Because I wanted to get the project working more than anything else, I simply mounted the jakcs on a plastic panel to isolate them from earth ground.
But for the next models, I'd like to mount the jacks directly if I know that I can because it will look better this way.
The ground for the DC voltages (the JAMMA "GND") is not the same as earth ground on the supply. So basically, what I want to know if it is safe to have the JAMMA GND connected to earth GND, or if these must be isolated for some reason? The Q-sound amp uses an isolation transformer, which makes me even more cautions about connecting earth ground to JAMMA ground.
This also applies to the ground for the composite jack (from the JROK).
