I am modding controllers to use on a neo or a supergun and have a parts question...

Where can I find a female 15pin plug for the end of the controller cord that will be long enough to fit into the neo controller ports?

I have found the socket end in black plastic and don't care if the controller cord end is plastic or metal...a long as it is long enough.

thanks!

You can use Belkin DB15 joystick extension cables. You just cut away some of the black plastic to make them long enough to fit snugly. Cut the male end off and wire that end to the controller.

great thanks! But there is nowhere that just sells longer ones that I can solder and screw a regular cover over?

if not, cool! I will look around for those...

do you know a place that sells them in the US?

I made a thread concerning this. Search for "controller cables" or "extension cables" or whatever as topic.

you can get them at mar-vac electronis if you're located in the US. Also I've got a question. I know for the jamma standard you don't need to do anything besides wire buttons to pins. But I was wondering if something done that way would work with the neo all the same. Or would it need some kind of circut board work?

You can get them directly from
<a href="http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Product_Id=42568" target="_blank">http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Product_Id=42568</a>

A little pricey, but probably the best solution you're gonna find. It's easy to shave off a little of the black plastic.

Has anyone used these? How many pins are connected inside? Would they work as regular extensions for the neo?

Yes, I have custom made controllers wired with these. All of the pins are wired.

Yes, they will work as extensions. Just remember to cut off some of the plastic to let the plug insert far enough into the Neo.

I can also tell you what color wire leads to what pin/button if you need this info for modding or making a custom controller.

Billy: Can you please tell me what color wire goes to what pin? I'm eager to mod my Saturn controller. I'm using a cut joystick extension cable, and I have no idea what color is what pin.

This is assuming we have the same Belkin cables and that you're doing these for the Neo.
Notice that some of the wires are solid colors and some have a light colored stripe down the side. The striped ones I'll denote with (str)

A button - Black (str)
B button - Yellow
C button - Turquoise
D button - Orange
Select - Red
Start - Pink
Up - Red (str)
Down - Blue
Left - Brown (str)
Right - Green
Ground - Black
+5v - Purple (not usually needed)

Hope this works out for anyone who tries it.

I am indeed using a Belkin cable. I'm going to fiddle with converting a Saturn pad for use with a NGH system. Thank you, sir.

*edit*

Eh, it seems my cable doesn't have the same coloring as yours. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

100% pins hooked is fuckin great!!!!!!!!!!!!! As soon as my check gets here I will order two of these asap!

thanks for the info Billy!!! I really appreciate it!!!!!

I am not cutting these open. It looks to me like the pins on the male end stick out far enought for the regular 15 pins to hook into one end. If it doesn't stay in there, I will make something that will allow it to.

Now I can put the regular 15 pins from the electronics store on all my home brew pads and just have them interchangable with this extension! :D

hopefully it will work!!

thanks again!
