I've got a MS3 here that looks 100% legit, though Unibios (2.2) IDs it as follows:

rom region: 431ede4c ok
rom region: custom
rom region: custom
rom region: custom
rom region: custom

Is that normal? IIRC that is because of the encryption (?) Poked around for a bit, but couldn't find a definitive answer. :)

If I read this thread (http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104203&highlight=universe+bios+custom) right, it's supposed to be custom.

I think there are quite a few games that check out as custom. It's supposed to be like that.

I saw that thread, and I tend to belive that's the answer. But I saw another thread or two relating to startup errors (which I did get a few times) and at least one 'mine checks out in UNI yours is a boot' type of answer. And in the SW1 setup mode the cart has what looks suspiciously like garbage for the name. Or it could be Japanese ;)

I think last I checked, the Unibios is meant to pass known boot versions. It would be nice if it gave a different output depending on whether the known version is a bootleg or not.
