It cost the bargain basment price of $299 US when it ame out in 1996. I know, cuz I got one. They only made around 100 (I've been told) so they are hard to come by.

Metal Slug 1 was released on 5/24/1996 for 29800 yen. Back then the exchange rate was around $1:100 yen, so about $298.

Well, it would've been nice to have picked the game up back when it was still "cheap", but if you're thinking that it would've been a nice investment you're probably wrong. You could've done better on the stock market or mutual funds.

I think only 100 copies would not be profitable enough for a US release.

Maybe 500 copies is the lowest production limit to go.

Metal Slug 1 AES US Version costed 600DM (260USD) that was back in 1996, when I bought my cart from Maro GmbH in Stuttgart in Germany.

By the way Kizuna Encounter AES US also costed 600DM (260USD) as well.

And I was such an idiot an sold both games for nothing.

I sold mine to Fat Boy Video in 1997 for $85! Man am I pissed off! I have kicked myself for the last few years because of that blunder. I thought a used game only went for about 1/3 of what it cost originally. Damn - Time to drink and smoke my sorrows away...sob...
