This is kind of a pointless topic but I'm posting 'er anyway <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
Let's say Square made a FF game that actually used characters from past FF games. What characters would you want to see in it? And what roles would they portray? NOTE: I'm using the US numbers for the games just to make things less confusing.
I'd like to see:
Main character: Terra (FFIII). I guess I just like a female lead. It's not the standard in RPG's to have a woman as the main focus of multiple character. Plus she looked cool and the Esper transformation was neat.
Opposite gender secondary lead: Squall (FFVIII). I think he was one of the coolest looking character Square ever cranked out. Plus the whole 'sulking loner' thing was interesting.
Mr. Tough Guy head supporting character: Kain (FFII). I liked his leaping attacks and his character was cool.
Misunderstood Freaky type: Vincent (FFVII). A really excellent character design. He has cool gun attacks and monster transformations. A good enigma character.
Little cutesy girl type: Yuffie (FFVII). A tough call here; Yuff just beats out Rydia (FFII). I suppose being represented in polygons instead of super deformed sprites helped.
Comic relief: Edge (FFII). This character looks cool AND has that dofus aspect that works for a comic relief character.
Tough old man type: Cyan (FFIII). Yeah he's not that old but he's got that whole air of experience thing working. Sword techs were quite cool!
Hand to Hand fighting type: Zell (FFVIII). Not as visually pleasing as Tifa but more lively characterwise. And his limit breaks required more input than Tifa's.
Villains: I'd like to see a triple threat team of Sorceress Edea, Sephiroth, and Kefta. You'd have the magic, the fighting skills, and the devious craftiness to be a serious threat.
Hidden characters:
Shadow (FFIII) - He could drop in and out of the party like in FFIII. He could have some cool attacks with his dog.
Red XVIII {or whatever number it was} (FFVII) - He just looks cool.
Gogo (FFIII) - A cool concept for a character. Being able to copy other party members would be cool to have back.
Oh, feel free to come up with your own catagories. And no, I haven't gotten around to playing FF5 or 9 yet.
