What do you consider to be the best year for games on the Neo Geo? If you could only pick one year to have games from which would it be and why?

IMO I would have to go with 1996. Some of my favorite games came out that year. :D

Neo Turf Masters
Metal Slug

I would have to go with 1994, as too many classics were made and it was the beginning of other series:

KOF '94
Super Sidekicks 2
Baseball Stars 2
Windjammers
Street Hoop
Samurai Shodown 2
Aerofighters 2

I'd have to agree with you the '96 was the best year. I wish I hadn't of given up on my Neo in '95 :( . Now I have to go back and collect all these expensive games :( .

Dude,

Baseball Stars 2 came out in 1992...same year as Viewpoint and Last Resort...so my vote goes for

1992! Wooo!

I'd second that with 1994. SamSho 2 and KOF '94 made their debuts that year. Watch all the AES collector fucks come out and sing the praises of 1996....hehehe.....

Shit, I feel so embarrassed seeing as how BBS2 is my favorite Neo game. Thanks for the correction. But I still stick with '94.

It just so happens that 1996 had the best games, and the most collectable games.

Super Dodge Ball (This alone makes it the best year!)
Turfmasters
Twinkle Star Sprites
Real Bout Special
KoF 96
Samurai IV
Ninja Masters

Didn't Art of Fighting come a few years after Fatal Fury?

Yeah, I think 1996 is probably the best year for overall releases on the AES... after this every year seemed to see less and less games come out for the system

1997 has to be my next favourite - Last Blade, King of Fighters '97 and probably something else too

8 votes for 96, Whoop! 1996 is the best! Where are all the KOF98 fans to vote for 98?

96 was a great year for games at that time. But in my point of view, I have to stick on the 93-94 Season. Best year so far in terms of profits for SNK.

Fatal Fury Special, Samurai Shodown, Spinmaster, Top Hunter, Art of Fighting 2, The King of Fighters 94, Samurai Shodown II, Windjammers, Aggressors of Dark Kombat, Aero Fighters 2,Super Sidekicks 2, Street Hoop and a lot more. It may have been also the season that more games have been released for the Neo Geo.

93-94 because it was the base for all the other releases up to now ( KOF, SAMSHO...).

1996 was the best year for releases, but 1998 had Blazing Star, Last Blade 2, KoF 98, Metal Slug 2, plus many of the uber rare 1996 carts were actually more afforable then - Kizuna could be had for under $300, as was the case with AoF 3 and TSS. I bet you could even get a metal slug back then for under $400 - the network of collectors wasn't as powerful back then.
