ouch, that's a bummer man. Considering the high price tag.

Mines a boot too...but I got it on purpose

The Unibios will do it on a legit cart.

Just about all of the newer games that have a transparent cart like that are boots. You see ones like this for Metal Slug 5 and Strikers 1945 all the time, and they're always bid up way too high. There are no legit releases of any of those last SNK Playmore games that look like that. The boots are much more common on ebay than the legit ones are.

Transparent case is the first indication that you will want to inspect the ROMs on the boards inside the case. If any of the large rectangular chips has the letters "MX" on it, instead of Toshiba markings, more than likely its a boot. However, there are MVS games that have transparent covers.

Striker 1945 always came in a transparent blue or green case.

You have to know the difference between those very common newer bootlegs with the transparent shells on ebay (often Strikers and Metal Slug 5), vs. the many legit transparent shells that exist. If you see the two side by side it's a very obvious difference. The plastic is different, a different shape and a slightly different color. Once you've seen them they're pretty easy to spot in an auction photo.
