I came across to know that both of the game have characters call Billy and Jimmy. Are they related?

This is not exactly part of the Double Dragon storyline. This more of a rehashing of Double Dragon, basically, new storyline.

The original Double Dragon (and im not talking about the neogeo one, im talking about DOUBLE DRAGON for the nes or master system was amazing.

I didnt mind the neogeo one but it kinda was lame tying it in with the movie (which I heard sucked).
Rage of the dragons sounds amazing, I cant wait for the rom so I can see how it plays.

Alot of people do not have access to arcades and they get the roms to see if they want to buy the real thing, just to try it out and see if they like it, it is a good idea to try a game before you plunk down 350$ for it, just my opinion though.

Double Dragon is sort of related to ROTD, the only characters from Double Dragon that are in ROTD is Billy and Jimmy. Now, SNK should make a Battletoads game.

RARE owns the license to Battletoads..the chance of seeing it on the Neo is...0 percent.

Before this turns into a rom hating thread, let's dig out some Double Dragon stuff...

The original Double Dragon was made in 1987 by Technos, licensed for distribution outside Japan by Taito.

In this game, Billy and Jimmy Lee have to rescue Marian, a fighting instructor who works at their Dojo. She has been kidnapped by the Black Warriors, a violent street gang. They have to face big boss Willy to free her.

The first boss in DD1 is Abobo.

In part two of DD ("Double Dragon - The Revenge", 1988), Billy and Jimmy set out to make Willy pay for murdering Marian. Burnov makes hist first appearance in the game, and Willy gets defeated.

Part three ("Double Dragon - The Rosetta Stone", 1990) breaks the original storyline. It's more of a mission-based DD version, with some added moves and extras like a shop system. Only the first mission is related to DD 1+2, where Jim, Willy's younger brother, overtakes leadership of the Black Warriors gang. The remaining levels consist of a quest to find the lost pieces of the Rosetta Stone, a powerful artifact.

The Neo Double Dragon is based on the movie with the same name which came out in 1993, and combines parts of the original story and new elements to a new storyline. Billy and Jimmy can now transform into their super forms, Marian is a gang leader, Abobo and Burnov, two of the former boss characters, are also playable. By the way, The big boss in the movie (and in Neo DD) is called Kugo (Koga?) Shuko.

Neo DD also contains Duke who was the end boss in the SNES DD version called Super Double Dragon. The evil street gang was called Shadow Warriors in this version. In Neo DD, Duke is the sub boss.

Now, the relation to RotD is quite limited. Billy, Jimmy and Abobo (called Abubo in RotD) are still there, but the original Double Dragon concept, based on the nick name for Billy and Jimmy who had been called Twin Dragons by the ppl in their neighborhood, was changed into an epic story involving real Dragons and their mythical powers. Again, there's the inevitable evil gang of Dragon power abusers, consequently entitled Black Dragons.

As a sidenote, Billy and Jimmy go by the name Lewis in RotD, trained by Master Lee, Yoda-like Old Master of the SHO SETZU KEN art and guardian of the Dragon Spirits.

Let's see what RotD's endings will add to the whole story... so far, I've only seen one of them (Elias and Alice).

I think Double Dragon is awesome and ROTD was just the thing the NEO needed to redeem itself from the last Double Dragon game they made.
