I have recently purchased a Lordsdale 4 slot arcade cab( from a member here, huge thanks;) ) And all is great, but i am also aware of a few things (from using the search function here) which may pop up and bite me on the ass. One being the battery leaking (not sure how old the board is)
Me being pretty new at this stuff i'm not even sure how to seperate the boards(hence why i don't know the age) of the 4 slot to check alls ok safely, at the moment the battery is keeping all high scores and soft dip settings but i would still like to check alls well.(and hopefully upgrade the bios)
Any info regarding this or anything else i should be aware of would be greatly appreciated, rather be treated as a complete noob than risk damaging anything whilst everything working so well, cheers in advance;)

TAKE THE BATTERY OFF THE BOARD ASAP IF IT IS LEAKING.

It WILL eat traces and on the 4 slot/6slot boards that results in a steady cross-hatch pattern no matter how many/few carts you put in.

Yeah i think it may be my first job, i'm assuming i just take off the Mobo's cover and undo the small bolts and the two boards will seperate easily to access the lower board and the battery?

Yeah, you'll have to peel up a bit of the foam/cardboard shield on the bottom to get to the solder connections to remove the battery.

Ok thanks, do you know if the board will work without the battery installed? I'm assuming it might but obviously without the soft dip and high scores .

It will...

It just won't save anything.

Get some orange cleaner like 409 Orange, spray a little on a paper towel, and use it to clean up the board after you remove the battery.

Managed to locate the battery and it doesn't look too bad (although i haven't been able to check the back of the board(is this the best place to look for leakage?)The front looks pretty clean apart from the gunky looking stuff which i'm hoping is glue they've stuck the battery down with.
Anyhow if anyone can suggest a place to get one of these batteries or an equivalent type if these are no longer available i would be most grateful.
Got a couple of pics aswell;)
