I have a computer open for stripping and I was wondering if the power supply was usable for a possible supergun in the future. It has a +5V 14A +12V 2A, though I've seen a few sites claiming to be suitable, I'd like to make sure.

It'll work for older boards as well as less power hungry PCBs. Its similar to the lower watt arcade power supplies which begin at about 110W. What are you planning on powering anyway? Does it indicated the amps of each output?

Possibly a MV1C board. Looking at the manual, it says: +5V 3A or more, +12V 1A or more.

Now I realize that I practically answered my own question, completely forgot I had the manual.

That is a total of 27 Watts (with the volume up) The 120W supply is more than ample ;)

That's good. A power supply is supposed to be cheap, but why buy what you already have. Thanks for your help guys.

Sorry to derail a bit but I have an old Gateway 2000 box that I'm looking into using as a case for a Supergun. Is the 230 Watt PSU ample for most older PCBs and some JAMMA boards. Also, how would I discover how much power is required to run a certain board? Here are the JAMMA's I have:
Technos:
WWF Superstars
WrestleFest
SNK:
POW
Capcom:
The Speed Rambler
Bowling
Namco:
Tekken 3

230w is MORE than enough... 20+ amps at 5v? You could almost arc weld with it ;)
