Worst Neo Game

Even though this may be sacreligious to many of you, there actually are bad Neo Geo games. Post the games that YOU have played to be the worst ever to grace the AES or MVS format, not just what you've heard.

At first I thought Riding Hero was the shit of the shit until I played Ninja Combat and Sengoku. It's a tough call but Sengoku just REEKS! I've never played anything so nasty on the Neo before. I don't care if it's old, it just reeks.

That's sick man....because Sengoku was the first game I ever owned with a Neo, way back in 1992. I got it off a friend who was way past due on a loan, and I got stuck playing that game for about two months until I bought Nam '75 and the indomitable BBS2. I still fuckin hate Sengoku, I beat it so many times that still whenever I think of those fuckin blue samurai ghouls that block your sword it makes me want to gut myself like a fish.

Other than Sengoku, my Worst of vote would have to go Legend Of Success Joe. EVERYONE says this, but I had the misfortune of spending about two hours with it while at the Die Hard Game Club store in Tarzana, CA back in the day. It has the rep is does for a reason...pathetic animation, sound, and even worse control...a complete collection can be the ONLY justification for owning such a turd.

Andro Dunos and Football Frenzy are high on the old shit list too.

Andro Dunos is a good game and so is Riding Hero... and Ninja Commando, that game is like Ikari Warriors and for its time is great, but it is all in the eye of the player I guess. This is always an interesting question since there are so few bad Neo Geo games, usually people just pick on LOSJ, but comeon, I have played much worse Genesis, SNES, and even PSX games. I think the number one reason why LOSJ is so bad is because it had so much potential. I am sure when you first played LOSJ you were thinking, why does everyone hate this game, then you got to about level 4 and found out that you can't block kicks, and you can't kick, and you were just stuck... and got frustrated and quit! So yeah, LOSJ is probably the game that comes to mind first for worst, but all and all it is still not as bad as the worst on other systems!!!

Everybody already knows I hate the über-cutesy games, with the hyper-cute little girls, cornball humor, and pastel colors abound. So other than those, I'll go with FF3, WH2J, Crossed Swords, and Samsho III

Bad game may contain one or more of the following:

1) bad control
2) repetitive gameplay
3) short game length
4) low replay value
5) bad graphics
6) bad music

Super Spy is a bad game and IMO that 1/3 of Neo AES library is considered bad game.

Check the "Weekly Check" thread in the Unrelated Forum or ask yourself, when was the last time you play 3 Count Bout, Super Spy and those fuckin Mahjong games?

Many people just "have" those games on their shelves and that's about it. That's a shame.

I don't mind to spend $20 or so for Super Spy but not original price $199.

I think we should have a thread regarding "Worst Neo player"......

Yeah, you're right, a lot of people buy games and rarely play them. They can't be all that great! For me there is too much myth and worship about the quality of Neo games...yes there are some great, great games available (some of the best), but there majority are average to poor.

1,2 and 4 would be the only factors that I'd say qualify a bad game. IMHO a game can have poor graphics, music and a short game length yet still be a good game...just not a great one. Actually, I dunno, probably just average...

I cant believe that they actually USED AND BURNED IN the program data on the rom chips in that cart for that terrible, terrible game!! They even used sound effects from AOF and FF2 for the game!!!

Whatever. Sengoku ownz man!!! That was one of the best sidescrollers around IMO!! Fun as helll an now that I got my AES I'm gonna get all of them!!! So if you have the game and hate it so much then sell me the damn things!!! I have to say the worst neo series would be Art of Fighting.

I think this topic also hits on retro appeal, we may be drawn to a particular game because we remember it fondly from the day when it was cutting edge (which the Neo certainly was in the golden age of 16-bit arcade revolution.

Many times I also love a Neo game because it IS so bad & old, tragically hip, so damn bad it's good, Sengoku is a classic for this reason....

I think the number one reason why LOSJ is so bad is because it had so much potential. I am sure when you first played LOSJ you were thinking, why does everyone hate this game, then you got to about level 4 and found out that you can't block kicks, and you can't kick, and you were just stuck... and got frustrated and quit! So yeah, LOSJ is probably the game that comes to mind first for worst, but all and all it is still not as bad as the worst on other systems!!! <hr></blockquote>

Ninja Combat (not Ninja Commando) is the worst side scrolling game on any system. I remember seeing screenshots and thinking it looked awesome, and since it was released after Final Fight, I thought it would as good or better. What a terrible game.
